How to Reduce Genshin Impact Load Time
How to fix slow download speed in Genshin Impact? We have an answer!
Genshin Impact is a free-to-play RPG that looks like a clone of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but with a gacha-style progression system where you unlock new characters and get loot from random drops. Despite the roots of mobile games, it has a huge open world, a fully voiced story and quite exciting combat.
If you're trying to download a game, you may experience dismal download speeds.
Luckily, there is an easy solution: try pausing the download with the launcher and resuming it . You won't lose any progress, but a lot of players report that this improved their speed a lot - and it worked for me and another editor as well. I was stuck looking at a 10 hour download at 0,3MB/s, but after a few stops and resuming the download, I was able to get 1,7MB/s. It's still awful, but my download has been reduced to two hours, which is much more tolerable.
If that doesn't work, you can also try closing the launcher completely and restarting it. Again, you won't lose your download progress, but there's a good chance you'll see a slightly improved speed. If you don't, try pausing or exiting the download a few more times. It seems completely random: sometimes the download would be much worse, sometimes it would increase the speed. Anyway, Genshin Impact only downloads 15 GB, so it won't take lot time if you manage to get speeds above 1MB/s.
However, it is not clear what causes such slow downloads in the first place. Genshin Impact is developed by MiHoYo based in Shanghai. If the servers are also located there, that might explain everything. While the game appears to have come into being unexpectedly, it is also possible that too a lot of people are trying to download it right now and the servers are busy. Either way, try the above advice and see if it helps. We'll update this story if we find more tips.
