How to unlock Kiriko in Overwatch 2

Unlike every hero before her, Kiriko appears in Overwatch 2 in a slightly different way. Instead of just being available to all players, it's tied into the Season 1 Battle Pass. This gives you multiple ways to unlock her.

First, there are two methods for instant access. One of them is to buy a premium battle pass for 1000 coins Overwatch ($10). The second option is to redeem the Founder's Pack if you're an experienced player jumping from the original game. Both will immediately unlock Kiriko so you can start mastering a support right away.

As a free option, Kiriko can be unlocked at level 55 of the Season 1 Battle Pass. Just by playing the game and completing both the daily and weekly challenges, you can progress through the free track to acquire a hero without spending a dime.

If you miss Season 1 altogether and don't have a Founders Pack to redeem, fear not. Blizzard has assured that new heroes will still be unlocked after the season in which they arrive. For Kiriko, we can expect a permanent challenge in Overwatch 2 when Season 2 kicks off. After completing this task, you will be able to unlock support for free.

Kiriko's abilities in Overwatch 2

While Kiriko is by definition a support, with the potential to both heal and protect her allies, she doesn't stand in the corner when it comes to dealing damage. Through her Kunai, she can deal damage to enemies from a distance, dealing much more if she can connect to critical hits. Combined with her flexible climbing skills and the ability to teleport through walls, she will be a difficult target to track in any teamfight.

Moreover, with the powers of Ofuda Healing and Suzu Defense, Kiriko can keep his teammates alive. The former is a simple healing burst that automatically pops up to targeted allies, while the latter provides a short moment of invulnerability, akin to Field of Immortality Batista. It also removes "most" of the negative effects, so expect a lot of debuffs to disappear in the blink of an eye.

Don't let Kiriko's support fool you, she's still a deadly fighter in the right hands.

Below is a full overview of Kiriko's set in Overwatch 2:

  • Suzu Defense:
    • On hit, allies in the area are briefly invulnerable and cleared of most negative effects.
  • Kunai:
    • A projectile is thrown that deals increased critical damage.
  • Quick step:
    • Teleport directly to an ally, even through walls.
  • Ofuda's Healing:
    • Channel a burst of healing talismans that can seek out targeted allies.
  • Kitsune Rush (Ultimate):
    • Summon a fox spirit that rushes forward, increasing the movement speed, attack speed, and chill of allies that follow its path.
  • Climbing (passive):
    • Jump on the walls to climb them.

Who is Kiriko in Overwatch 2?

Kiriko joins the Overwatch 2 roster as a character with close ties to several others. Namely, she is related to both Genji and Hanzo as her mother actually trained the two Shimada brothers.

Growing up in Kanezaka, a fictional Japanese city that also serves as the backdrop for the deathmatch map of the same name, Crico was largely raised by her mother and grandmother. The latter taught her to respect tradition and value the community, being a ninja who believed in action.

When Kiriko was young, she joined a group called Yokai to serve and protect her community. It is because of her relationship with this ragtag cast of characters that she appears to collude with members of the Overwatch team.

That's all we know about Kiriko in Overwatch 2.
