Knives Out - Asia's Biggest Battle Royale Coming to PS5
PlayStation fans will soon be able to get another Battle Royale title to call their own exclusive in the form of Knives Out. So, here's what we know about the title, which can exclusively launch with PS5.
Even though Fortnite has cemented itself as a leader, the Battle Royale genre is flooded with games that offer fans something different. Want interesting movement mechanics and hero abilities? Try Apex Legends. Want a more tactical shooter? Playerunknown's Battlegrounds might be for you.
However, there is a relatively unknown game that has taken Japan by storm that could be coming to the PlayStation 5 as soon as it launches in 2020. So here's what we know about Knives Out, a mobile phenomenon that's slowly making its way onto consoles around the world.
What is a Knives out?
Knives Out was created by NetEase back in 2017 and looks pretty similar to PUBG. However, one difference from other battle royale titles is that it has an absolutely huge map spanning 6400x6400m.
Published by Tencent, the mobile game has garnered fans across Asia, but especially in Japan. Back in 2018, it was reported that 80% of the game's revenue that surpassed Fortnite came from Japan. It was also noted that, on average, players spent about $370 on a free-to-play title.
What game modes does Knives Out have?
Like many battle royales, the game supports up to 100 players in a lobby as every soul strives to win survival of the fittest and be crowned champion.
Of course, you can also find teammates to watch your back, as well with the traditional four-player team mode you see in Fortnite and PUBG, making way for five-player teams.
Is this exclusive to PS5?
At the time of writing, the game is available worldwide on iOS and Android devices, and Nintendo Switch in Japan. However, it may come to PS5 when the console goes on sale.
Page LinkedIn from developer NetEase revealed that the game was developed for both PS4 and PS5 launches.
Linkedin page shows that Knives Out, the battle royale game from NetEase, could also be coming to PS5 in addition to PS4.
