Last oasis
In Last Oasis, players must survive on a slowly dying Earth. After a catastrophic event that stopped the rotation of the Earth, the planet was divided into two extreme and deadly environments. Only a narrow strip of space between the hot and cold halves of the planet has the conditions that can support life. This band moves at the speed of the planet's rotation around the Sun, and all life on Earth must migrate with it. To keep moving, the remnants of humanity built nomadic vehicles and a walking city called Flotilla.

Last Oasis - Survival Guide

guide

Last oasis is a survival MMO developed and published by Donkey Crew that was released on March 26, 2020. The earth has stopped spinning and the survivors must constantly move to stay in the habitable zone between the cold darkness and the scorching sun.

The gameplay focuses on creating mobile "Walker" bases, both small and large, which are used to conquer the game world. Use both hand and mounted weapons to fight the Rupus and other nomads. Use the Trading Station to contribute to the global economy based on actual supply and demand.

Official description of the game and its mechanics

Walkers

Travel the world in wooden wind walking machines. Walkers can be adapted for travel, transportation, harvesting, warfare, or used as mobile bases. A variety of structures, attachments, and upgrades allow players to personalize the walker to suit their needs.Burning Sun

The sun burns the earth in the west, turning it into dust. To stay ahead of the annihilating Sun, the nomads must explore new territories that slowly appear on the eastern horizon, from the side of the Earth, which has long been frozen in impenetrable ice. Knowledge

After a catastrophic event that stopped the rotation of the Earth, the planet was divided into two extreme and deadly environments. Only a narrow strip of space between the hot and cold halves of the planet has the conditions that can support life. This band moves at the speed of the planet's rotation around the Sun, and all life on Earth must migrate with it in order to survive. In order to keep moving, the remnants of humanity built nomad machines. Flotilla

Every day, the Flotilla transports more nomads to passing oases, where warring clans fight tooth and nail for control of territory and valuable resources. Some nomads took advantageous positions for themselves and even received status with a flotilla; however, most nomads are involved in a daily struggle for survival, forced to fight both with nature and with those around them. There will never be rest for the people who built the walkers; they can only move forward. Survive and thrive

Find ways to survive. Gather resources. Craft equipment. Build your Walker. Improve your skills. Learn to exploit what is left of the world. Keep the nomad alive for as long as you can, the longer you avoid death the stronger you become. Trading in a player controlled economy

Trade networks stretch between the famous oases. The player-centric global economy is based on real supply and demand. Smart and fast traders can make huge profits, but trading routes always come with risks. Other nomads may choose to mine or harvest rare and highly localized resources. Although it is always advisable to first consider potential competitors. Challenge another clan's monopoly and you could be their next target. Travel and explore an MMO-sized world

The world is made up of many interconnected oases that form a large open world. Potentially there are a thousand oases at the same time - this number automatically adjusts to the size of the player's base. Each Oasis is over 100 km2. Explore them to discover new and unique biomes by plundering their limited resources. Some nomads may stop and refill their water. Others will calm down for a while, but eventually everyone will head east to avoid the Sun's invasion. No Man's Land

No-Man's Land is an open desert that lies between the last habitable oases on Earth. Use it to quickly move between adjacent oases if you bring enough water to your Walker. You can safely exit here - the endless dunes allow you to hide your walker and mobile base if you want to go to sleep or just catch your breath. Hand-to-hand combat

Dynamic directed melee combat. Pick your weapons from a range of one-handed or two-handed swords, maces, axes, or quarters. If you prefer to hit your opponents from a distance, you can fight with a wide range of airborne weapons such as ballistas, shotguns, relays, or catapults. Specialize in one or become a more versatile fighter as you try to master them all. Building Bases

Build portable bases or more permanent fortifications. Protect yourself from hostile players and the natural dangers of the world. Stone walls provide excellent protection while lighter wooden structures can be packed on large walkers and moved. Solo experience

Individuals and small groups of players are the backbone of Last Oasis. Trading, hunting and harvesting allows anyone to acquire the best equipment or sell goods for profit. For those who prefer a more risky and highly rewarding lifestyle, piracy is always an option, but beware of the payback. Clans and Warfare

Become a political and economic force. Manage a region and get rewarded with local resources collected by nomads there. Grow your clan and make alliances to maximize and protect your income. Always be ready for conflict - hostile clans will challenge your control and take everything you've built.Anchor

Master the vertical movement. Each nomad has a grappling hook - the most important and iconic tool for those who lead the walker. Tailor it to your play style. It all depends on your skill: some of them try to climb the smallest stones, while others swing through the forests, surpassing the speed of even the fastest Walkers. Can you defy gravity?

walkers

Where to start playing?

When you create your character, you will appear in an area called "The Cradle". The Cradle is a low-level starting zone that will allow you to explore the game safely for a while before heading into the dangerous Oases. During your stay in the Cradle, you will have many initial tasks that will teach you how to collect resources, use inventory, create your first items, and much more.

As with all survival games, your first task is to collect the main early game resources - wood and fibers. You can find wood by collecting wood sticks from the ground and fibers by collecting bushes.

During the introductory tasks, you will learn how to get research points, talent trees and get to know the world around you.

On the last task, you leave the Cradle and go to the open world. Do not rush to leave the Cradle - it will be impossible to return, and the outside world is quite hostile to newcomers, especially those who have not completed the initial tasks.

Character Characteristics

Damage is an important stat as it scales the amount of melee damage you can deal with a weapon. A high value of this characteristic will shorten the duration of the battle, which will positively affect the preservation of stamina.

Mobility is also an important indicator, since this whole game is based on speed and fast movement. Mobility will affect the speed at which your character walks and the maximum running speed.

Endurance extremely useful, but not so obvious. If you've ever played Mordhau or Chivalry, you'll immediately understand why. Stamina is used to attack and block attacks. If you have more stamina than the enemy, then you are more likely to win in close combat, because the enemy will eventually just run out of stamina and be unable to block your attacks.

Health, suddenly increases your maximum health points. In turn, this may allow you to survive more damage. This stat is great for PvP, but if you're a good player and able to dodge and position yourself properly, then this stat isn't the first stat to put a lot of points into.

Weapons and armor

A weapon has three main stats: damage, penetration, and speed. In addition, all weapons have a different physical model and can be used at different distances.

Armor has three stats: a percentage of damage reduction, a fixed amount of damage reduction, and a movement speed reduction. Movement speed reduction does not affect attack speed.

How does PvP work?

There are no PvE-only servers in Last Oasis, so skirmishes are inevitable. At an early stage of server development, the main focus will be on melee weapons. Getting good armor is incredibly important as it can block hits and greatly reduce incoming damage.

Another important aspect of the game are grappling hooks. When you finish the initial quests, you will already have a basic grappling hook, which can later be replaced with two others from the skill tree. This hook is able to pull you to the enemy, which significantly affects the tactics of combat.

Health can be quickly restored with bandages. The player does not die immediately, but first falls to his knees. Partners can raise such a player for 5 units of water. But if you still die, then you can be reborn no sooner than after 60 seconds.

If your walker has water on it, you can respawn on it, it costs 20 units of water. Otherwise, next to him or not far from the place of death.

Resources in Last Oasis

There are a lot of resources that can be found in Last Oasis, let's take a look at what you'll need early on in the game.

Pick used to collect stone and can be crafted from wood and stone.

Sickle used to collect Fiber, Aloe Vera and Cattail.

Axes are mainly used for chopping wood, but in some cases they are also a good melee weapon.

Cacti essential for early survival as they are the main source of water. If you have any weapon or tool, you can collect cactus pulp. Bare hands can only pick fruit.

In the early stages of the game you will need: stone and wood. They are scattered around the map in huge quantities in the form of sticks or small stones (can be harvested by hand) or trees and boulders (mined with tools).

Bone Splinter / Bone Splinter

Bones can be collected from tusks that are scattered on the ground. Collect bone fragments faster and more efficiently using tools.

Aloe / Aloe Vera

Grows all over the map, but closer to the mountains. It is more efficient to collect with a sickle than with bare hands. When eaten, it quenches thirst.

Castus and Cactus Fruit / Cactus Flesh

Cacti grow almost everywhere. When eaten, it quenches thirst. Cactus fruits can only be harvested by hand. The fruits are used in some recipes or eaten.

Cattail / Cattail

Can be found in small ponds and ponds. It is more efficient to collect with a sickle. Used in recipes for first clothes and ropes.

Skin (Hide) / Hide

In the initial locations, it can be obtained from a creature named Phemke - a small pink monkey. After killing, you need to hit the carcass with an ax to get the skin.

Fiber / Fiber

It grows in large numbers over the entire surface of the earth in the form of small bushes. Can be harvested by hand, but more effective with a sickle.

Monkey Vine / Rupu Vine

They hang rupu in the camps. Can be harvested by hand - 4 vines, with a sickle - 10 ash and a scythe - 27 vines.

Beeswax / Beeswax

It is located in beehives on trees, collected only by hand. When a hive is near you, you can hear it, this can help in the search.

Wooden support / Wood Shaft

Can be obtained by killing rupa and looting their camps.

Mountain Wax / Earth Wax

Harvested with some chance from boulders with a pickaxe.

Rare resources in Last Oasis

Resources such as Iron Ore - these are high-level metals, they can be found and mined in event oases. In this case, the place where the meteorite fell. According to the latest news, these events will be activated very soon. * I will replenish the list of resources, I collect.

Types of Oasis and movement on the map

One of the unusual mechanics of Last Oasis is that all server oases are not eternal. Sooner or later, each of them will be destroyed by the scorching sun, and their lifetime is indicated on the global map. But new ones are born. Thus, players are always on the move and do not have the opportunity to sit in one oasis forever. Moreover, resources in each of the oases are finite and can be chosen by the players entirely.

By building a Walker and loading enough water into it, you will be able to cross the desert and travel to oases. To cross each cell of the global map in a straight line, you will need 10 units of water, and 15 units diagonally.

As we mentioned earlier, your first oasis will be the Cradle - this is a heavenly and relatively safe place, leaving which you will not be able to return.

The first biome that appears in the game is a sandy desert covered with sparse vegetation and small mountain ranges. Most of the most common resources are found here, this is the most common type of oasis.

The second biome is a volcanic oasis, which is very hot and often covered in scorched forest. More rare resources can already be found here, but the situation here is much more unfriendly.

And finally, the third biome is a temporary event on the global map. Its life span is very limited. This could be a meteorite impact site, where you can finish off the ore in large quantities, or a huge sandworm, from which the worm's silk falls. These are the rarest and most valuable resources in the game.

Trading stations and trade

Oases often have neutral trading stations where you can trade for resources and items. You can sell both the station itself and by placing lots for other players. In this case, you determine the price yourself. Coins are the currency here.

Trading stations collect tax when the player makes a profit. He makes up 10% of total sales. So always remember that if your expected profit on a trade is small, then the tax could actually result in a loss.

The territory of the trading station is a safe zone and here you can instantly exit the game along with your Hodun.

Walkers are your mobile bases

Walkers are the "ships" of the Oasis world, which are also your base and can carry more and more cargo as they grow. This is an interesting mechanic, as you are always ready to travel. Light wooden buildings can be "folded" and loaded into Khodunov.

The number of parts installed on the building directly proportionally affects their folding and unfolding time. Optimal base that allows you to quickly turn around:

  • Foundation of foundations measuring 2x2 or 3x3 squares
  • Joiner's machine
  • Loom
  • Advanced Loom
  • Masher
  • Chests

The windmill and water condenser only work when deployed. It makes no sense to make them part of a mobile base, but it is better to install them at a permanent location.

Types of walkers

Walkers can be divided into several subgroups. Walkers Level 1 (T1) require splinters to unlock. Hodunam level 2 (T2) plates are required; Walkers are divided into small, medium and large. They are studied either for fragments, or for tablets, also made from fragments:

Walker Boat (Dinghy Walker) is the second Walker you unlock in the tech tree. Also, this is the second and last Walker you can build in the tutorial. It has the ability to install an energy generator and a capacious water tank, allowing it to make transitions between oases on a global map. Two types of sails can be installed on the Boat: regular and low-profile, which reduce the likelihood of damage to them by the enemy and are less noticeable from afar in the terrain.

Research tablets in Last Oasis

Research Fragments can be obtained in a myriad of ways. I will tell you many of them during the starting tasks: search in the wreckage, killing Rupu.

To study high-level technologies, you will need research tablets. They are crafted from fragments using the Ancient Fabricator. These workbenches are found only in complex Oases. These machines are disposable and reusable.

How to Log Out Safely in Last Oasis

Anything you leave in the game world when you exit the game can be appropriated by other players. There are several options for a safe exit. First of all, remember that by opening the global map on the edge of any Oasis, you, your Hodun (if you are driving) and all its passengers will disappear from the open world. Exit the game from the global map menu - your property is safe.

The second option is the safe exit button in the menu. You must be on the Walker and click on it. A 120 second countdown will start, at the end of which you will also find yourself on the global map and can exit the game. Remember that the timer can be interrupted by any damage.

To appear on the desired walker in the oasis (summon it), you must select it in the menu before loading it on the server - check the box.

Some Tips for Newcomers to Last Oasis

  • You can respawn on your walker, but it costs a lot of water and most likely the enemies will be waiting for you to respawn. Make sure it's safe.
  • Place the bed closer to the place where you are going to collect resources. If you suddenly die, you can easily respawn nearby.
  • Throw things on Hodun more often, there they will be in relative safety
  • Finish all the tutorial quests, you will definitely regret if you leave earlier - you will have to catch up in the development of more patient opponents.
  • Killing Rupu monkeys is a good source of fragments for researching initial technologies.
  • Battles with Rupu are a useful thing. The combat here is unique and, once you get used to it, you will have an advantage over the players.
