League of Legends MSI 2023 will be held in London: format, schedule and more
With the start of the 13th season League of LegendOn January 10, 2023, fans can once again be excited to see their favorite pro players in action with the League of Legends championship for all regions starting this month as Riot Games has finally revealed the official details of the upcoming MSI and Worlds 2023.
Riot Games also revealed information on January 9, 2023 regarding ranking changes, skin updates, new champion updates, and the introduction of a language selector for the upcoming 2023 season as it begins on January 10, 2023.
The Mid-Seasonal Invitational, or MSI, is an annual tournament that takes place during the mid-season hiatus of the competitive calendar. It features top teams from each of the world's major regions including Europe, North America, China, Korea and more.
MSI is undoubtedly one of the most entertaining events in professional sports as fans around the world cheer for their favorite teams to see which team/region is the strongest. It is also a test for the teams until they compete in the World Championship after the start of the regional championships.
On January 10, 2023, the official League of Legends Esports Twitter released official information about the venue and format of the upcoming tournament.
Announcement and location format of League of Legends MSI 2023
In 2023, the Mid-Season Invitational will take place in London. Now 13 teams will compete in the tournament instead of 11, and the event itself will be divided into two stages: Play-In and playoffs for eight teams with a double-elimination bracket. Europe, South Korea, China, and North America will each receive two MSI slots, while Vietnam, Brazil, South America, Southeast Asia, and Japan will each receive one. Teams from Oceania, the CIS and Turkey will not be invited - the last two regions were included in the EU Masters in 2023.

2023 World Championship
Before the 2023 World Championship, Riot Games will hold an additional qualifier, which will feature teams from the LEC and LCS that finished fourth at the end of the season. The winner of the match up to three wins will join 21 teams in the main tournament.
Worlds 2023, which will be held in South Korea, will be divided into three stages. Eight teams will play in the Play-In according to the "dueling" system: pairs of opponents will fight for two slots in the group stage. The event groups will now be held according to the Swiss system in the bo1 format, until eight teams win three victories each. The decisive confrontations will be held in the best-of-3 format. The winners of the group stage will advance to the playoffs, which will not change in 2023: it will be a single-elimination bracket with games up to three wins.
