Minecraft Dungeons: How to Defeat the First Boss - Evoker

Evokers have a pincer attack that they summon from the ground. These pincers suck you in and crush you, dealing devastating damage. An intruder can use these claw traps in two ways: either in a direct frontal attack aimed directly at you, or in a circle surrounding onlookers. This attack must be avoided at all costs as it can instantly turn the tide of battle against you.

The first frontal assault is what the Evokers will most hope for. They use it when you're within range and sometimes spam it if they're trying to stalk you. The second spin attack is used when the attacker feels threatened, as if you are approaching them. Both attacks are very strong and knock out a significant part of your health. For this reason, it's best to stay away and use your bow instead.

The second attack of the intruders is to summon flying minions that will hunt you down and surround you. These minions have negligible health and don't deal tons of damage, but they can quickly overwhelm you and try to hold you back. Thus, they help the evoker perform a vicious pincer attack. Minions shouldn't be your top priority, as summoners can keep summoning them, but don't let them build up.

Once you understand how the evoker attacks, use the following strategies to defeat them:

• ♦Stay out of reach whenever possible. Dealing with attackers with melee attacks is tricky as they rely heavily on their damaging pincer attack when you're around. Attacks are much harder to predict and dodge when you're directly above them, so it's best to keep your distance.
• ♦Use the dash button carefully. The dash button is a useful tool for any dungeon explorer, but when the evoker unleashes some powerful attacks on you, it's best to reserve your dash button for when you need to quickly jump out of those pincers.
• ♦Don't let minions pile up. Evokers will use their minions to debilitate your health and keep you in place, so use decisive melee attacks to quickly deal with the minions when they get close.
• ♦Use charged bow shots at the Evoker. Evokers can deal a lot of damage, but their health isn't amazing. Use charged bow shots every time you see a gap of time to damage the callers without putting yourself in danger.
• ♦Artifacts are always useful. Artifacts can give momentum at a turning point or deal a lot of damage just when you need it. Don't forget that you have them, and use them freely .
• ♦ Feel free to step back. Evokers can't move very fast, so if you get hooked on one of their pincer attacks, make sure you back to a safe distance to use the potion and recover your position. One mistake can confuse you and make the fight more exhausting.

First of many

As long as you follow this guide, evoker won't stand a chance. Their ranged options are limited, with the exception of weak minions, which are more of a nuisance if you don't let a bunch of them build up. Their tick traps they can summon are a real threat. Be mobile, stay out of the way and make sure you have spare arrows. I'm sure you will inspire a sense of desperation in any Evoker.
