Minecraft: How to Make a Torch with Soul Fire

minecraft-img

Several new lanterns have been added to Minecraft with the introduction of the Soul Fire Torch. If you want to make any of these, you will need to delve into the Nether to obtain the necessary components to create it. Currently, you can only get all the ingredients if you have build 20w06a.

How to Make a Torch with Soul Fire

Torches are relatively easy to create, it just takes a bit of effort to get the Soul Soil needed to create them.

Step 1: Travel to the Nether

You will need create a nether portal, to get to the underworld. As a rule, for this you need to collect obsidian, make a 4x5 rectangle and light it with flint and steel. Jump into the purple portal and you will be in the Nether.

Step 2: Look for the Soul Sand Valley Biome

Biome soul sand valley is a new type of biome that you can find in the Underworld. Soul Sand has been around for a while, but there is now a new resource called Soul Soil. SoulSand-imgwhich can be found in the same areas. Soul sand looks a bit creepy and slows you down when you walk through it. Soul soil has a similar color, but is wavy and doesn't slow you down. You'll know you're in the right place if you see some blue flames erupt from the ground. Gather a piece of Soul Soil, you will need one for every four Soul Fire Torches you want to create.

Step 3: Making the torches

Now that you have Soul Soil, you just need to gather some coal or charcoal and a stick. Throw them on your crafting table and you'll get 4x Soulfire Torches for every ingredient you put in!

LIGHTING COMPARISON

So how do they compare to regular torches? Well, they emit less light than regular lights, so if you're just looking for general lighting, you're better off using the originals.

However, Soulfire Lanterns have one specific use, next to them, melt snow or ice. So, if you are building a snow base or igloo and are looking for some lightning that won't melt it all down, then you can use these!

BOTTOM LINE:

Torch with soul fire
  • Emits light level 10.
  • Has the same crafting recipe as a regular torch, but uses soul soil instead of a stick.
