Overseer (Warden) is a planned hostile mob in the Caves and Cliffs 1.17 update. It was announced at Minecraft Live 2020 on October 3, 2020.
We've just received a lot of new information from the Minecraft Live 2020 stream and a major announcement about what's to come Caves and Cliffs update . This new addition to the game will include new mobs, biomes, resources and items. If you were a fan of the recent Nether update, then it will be similar but maybe even more significant as it affects so many areas in the world. It's a pretty exciting time if you're a big Minecraft player, so let's take a look at one of the particularly exciting additions coming in the future!
Mob Overseer is one of the scariest addons we have ever seen being added to Minecraft. You will only be able to find it in the Deep Dark biome, which is rare to find in the lowest depths of your Minecraft world. They will spawn along with the new Skalk Sprouts that can be found near this new mob. The warden is the first blind mob in Minecraft that reacts to vibrations. It's also very similar to the Sculk sensors that grow in Sculk Growths!
Sculk Sensors are a new redstone block that responds to movement and sound. They can be used to create wireless redstone sensors that could really revolutionize the way devices are built in the game!
The best defense you can use to avoid fighting the Warden is steal or throw projectiles like snowballs, to distract him. In the reveal, it was shown that the Overseer would be attracted to projectiles that make a sound.
The Warden appears to get faster when attacking and deals so much damage that it can kill a player fully equipped with Netherite Armor in two hits.
He won't hear you if you slip past, but if you attack him, he will grab you and won't be distracted by other objects. At this stage, he will begin to press on the player much faster than before.
