Youth teams Big and Mouz shared gold at WePlay Academy League Season 3 Online

The professional CS:GO esports scene has gone into a long hibernation. Only in mid-February, IEM Katowice awaits fans with a prize fund of $1 million. While the strongest e-sportsmen of the planet are having a rest, young people are joining the fight.

On January 3, the online stage of WePlay Academy League Season 3 started. Youth teams of the largest organizations participate in this tournament. 10 teams were divided into 2 groups of 5 participants each. During the week, the teams played each other in the best-of-2 format. Bookmaker GGBET at that time, I recorded an increased interest in these games, since at the current time this is the strongest tournament in eSports CS:GO.

Group A results

Made it into the top five Fnatic Rising, Astralis Talent, Young Ninjas, Na'Vi Junior and Big Academy. In this group, the fight turned out to be really hot.

Astralis youth turned out to be obvious outsiders. Out of 8 maps, the young Danes managed to win only 2. Astralis Talent took one point from Natus Vincere Junior and Fnatic Rising. This defeat, whatever you say, greatly spoiled the lives of the teams. 111111

The youth teams of Na'Vi and Fnatic finished the group stage with a score of 4:4. In the face-to-face duel, the victory on two maps was celebrated by "Born to Win". The first match between the teams turned out to be the longest of the tournament. The teams did not reveal the winner in 30 rounds, so overtime was required. As a result, Natus Vincere Junior won with a score of 25:23. The second map also turned out to be tense, but here the young esportsmen from Na'Vi turned out to be stronger - 16:14. Natus Vincere Junior took third place, while Fnatic stopped at fourth place.

No less tense was the fight for the first place in Group A. Everything was decided on the penultimate game day. Big Academy played against Young Ninjas. The teams played two hot cards of 30 rounds each. On Nuke and Inferno, the youth team Big won in a bitter struggle. Thus, the team secured the first place. This was not even affected by the failure of the team in the last game day against Fnatic Rising – Big Academy lost two maps. As a result, the team finished the group stage with a score of 5:3, just like Young Ninjas. However, thanks to the success in the personal meeting, Big became the first, and the Young Ninjas finished the game at this stage as silver medalists.

Group B results

Virtus Pro Prodigy, Team Spirit Academy, MOUZ NXT, Eternal Fire Academy and FURIA Academy fought in the second five. And in this group there was a more obvious division into leaders and outsiders.

The last place with only one victory in the asset was taken by the Brazilians from FURIA Academy. The team was able to win the map against Eternal Fire Academy, but they lost the other 7 matches.

The Russian team VP.Prodigy performed a little better. The team has won three of its four first matches. Virtus.Pro failed the second part of the group stage, losing all the games. As a result, 4th place according to the results of this stage. They overtook VP.Prodigy Eternal Fire Academy, who also had a score of 3:5, but in a face-to-face meeting they won the "bears".

The second line in the quintet was taken by the Russian-Ukrainian team of Team Spirit Academy. The guys started worse than VP.Prodigy, but in the end they found their game and won four victories in a row. Thanks to this, the young Spirits finished the group stage with a score of 6:2.

The first line went to the international line-up of MOUZ NXT. The team lost only one map during the tournament in the match against Team Spirit Academy. Otherwise, the "mice" showed a confident game, defeating opponents with a large margin. This allowed MOUZ NXT to become the champions of their group.

What's next?

The clubs that take the first places go to the LAN finals of the youth championship from WePlay. The offline tournament will be held from 2 to 13 February in Kiev. On it, four top youth teams will compete for 88 thousand US dollars. Two members are already known: the academic line-ups MOUZ and Big. 2 more slots will be played by the remaining 8 teams of the online stage.

The rest of the teams in this championship enter the knockout game. In the 1/4 finals, the Fnatic youth team will play against Astralis, and Virtus.Pro will play against FURIA. The winners of these fights will advance to the semi-finals, where Na'Vi Junior and Eternal Fire Academy await them. In the final matches, the youth teams Ninjas in Pajamas and Team Spirit received slots. They will play with the winners of the games of the previous stage. The teams that win these matches will receive the last tickets to the LAN finals of the youth tournament of the academies.

There is also a consolation prize pool at the online stage:

  • 9th-10th place - $500
  • 7th-8th place - $1500
  • 5th-6th place - $4000

The minimum cash prize that the offline tournament participants will receive is $8.
