The goal of Monster Hunter Rise is to put high-octane animal slaughter back in the hands of the player, allowing fans to hunt anywhere, anyhow. While the trailer for the new game was pretty short, we've compiled all the information we know so far.

Increased verticality and new weapon attacks
While Monster Hunter fans can expect to see the series' core hunting and creation cycle, there are a number of exciting new features in Rise. The first is Wirebug. This useful creature allows hunters to grab and wade through the rocky terrain around them, and also combines this feature with fast wall running.
Wirebug also gives players access to powerful weapon attacks, creating many opportunities to deal additional damage without being seen. Speaking of attacks, it looks like each weapon will have a new set of moves that fans will need to learn and master.
Monster Hunter Rise certainly takes verticality and aerial attacks to a whole new level, so it will be interesting to see how this affects the overall flow of gameplay.
First canine companion
Yes, that's right, Monster Hunter finally has its first canine buddy. For many years, hunters have been supported by charming feline buddies both outside and inside combat. However, Rise is looking to shake up this hackneyed formula with the addition of Palamute.
Palamut is a wolf-like creature that can be ridden by hunters. These loyal creatures will not only greatly speed up your progression, but will also attack monsters with their razor-sharp claws and equipped weapons.
New monsters
The list of toothy Monster Hunter horrors is pretty long, and while it's nice to see a few familiar faces in Rise, most fans will be happy to transform their oversized weapons into something new. Luckily, Rise will add a lot of fresh edges to the mix. The trailer revealed four new monsters:
- The Magnamalo is a fearsome fanged wyvern that hunts its prey with unrelenting viciousness.
- Aknosome is a hulking wyvern bird that attacks enemies with its crest.
- The Great Izuchi is another wyvern bird that crushes attackers with its scythe-shaped tail.
- The Tetranadon is an oversized amphibian that uses its rounded body to crush those who dare to stand in its way.
New Hunter Base: Kamura Village
This picturesque village is the central hub of Rise. Here, hunters will be able to forge powerful weapons and armor, purchase various consumables, and even meet many colorful characters.
The official website says: “This village, famous for its Tatara Steel, is where hunters make a living. The rampage, the disaster that devastated the village 50 years ago, is about to happen again, leaving the villagers in turmoil. The hero must become the best hunter and overcome this calamity with the help of all the villagers.”
New location: shrine ruins
Little is known about the locations in Monster Hunter Rise, but we got a good idea of the Temple Ruins. The official website states that it was once a place where people prayed for protection, but it has fallen into disrepair and is now haunted by roaring monsters day and night.
The gameplay featured dilapidated temple buildings, huge rocky mountains, and freshwater rivers flowing right through the landscape. It definitely looks like a place where a lot of bloodthirsty monsters can live. Most likely, there will be many new locations in the game, so we will update this article as soon as we know more.
Brand new monsters with unique ecology
Those of you who love to collect amiibo will be happy to know that there are three figures in the game for you to collect. These are Palamut, Magnamalo and Palico. By purchasing them, you will get access to special layered armor. Capcom has confirmed that they will be available when Monster Hunter Rise releases on March 26, 2021.
