Sea Of Thieves Will Add Dogs And Treasure Vaults Next Week
Next big update Sea of Thieves is over mountains, it will bring on September 9 new four-legged friends, new missions to store gold and many other interesting things.
It's called The Vault Of The Ancients, and as you can guess from the name, offers new quests to explore treasures across the sea. You will be able to spot them with a great dog in tow, and there will also be some new changes to accessibility and quality of life.
Last week at Gamescom announced the upcoming dogs. While they're coming with this update, it's worth noting that you'll need to purchase them from the game's premium store, The Pirate Emporium, with real money if you choose to.
So, you will be able to get these new missions from the Keepers of Gold, who seemed to have so much gold that they did not know what to do with it, so they hid it in ancient vaults. Players will need to find the keys to these vaults and either return them like a good pirate or use them to claim the treasure for themselves like a better pirate.
The vaults are a bit like some of the puzzle rooms we've seen in Tales earlier, inviting you to find medallions and solve different challenges to unlock an even more special treasure hidden inside.
This update also introduces a cool quality-of-life item called Mysterious Notes. You'll find them in the circular menu next to your quests at the start of a pirate session, and they're basically little clues to where to go and what to do. There's so much going on in Sea Of Thieves right now that Rare makes sure new players don't miss out on anything if they haven't been following all the muscle updates.
In the near future, several more small, but very long-awaited changes will be made. One of them is several new and improved island banners. These are small (well, quite large) pop-ups that appear on your screen when you arrive at a new island or outpost. Not only do they remove your HUD when spawned, but I've found in the past that they can also cause weird framerate drops. However, next week this will not be, because there will be an opportunity to make them much smaller or just turn them off completely.
Rare reminds that the Summer Of Sea Of Thieves event is still ongoing . Basically, it's a set of small challenges that you can complete to earn various rewards, and it ends at the end of September.
They also tease that they have something planned for September 19th.
