Need for Speed: Underground - the seventh part of the racing arcade Need for Speed. A nice feature has been added to the Underground that allows you to customize your car and the career mode is back. The release of games from the "Need For Speed" series has become a regular occurrence. At the same time, the differences between all these games are so noticeable that the developers refused to include serial numbers in the names. Thus, "Need For Speed: Underground" is already the seventh game released on the computer, but it is almost impossible to call it a continuation.

So, according to the plot (yes, yes ... the game has a simple, but the plot) you have to take part in illegal street races. The graphics and physics of the game create a dynamic gameplay, which, according to the assurances of the developers, is "the fastest to date." It is clear that this time it will not be possible to drive a MacLaren F1 or a Porsche 911: the status of the competition is not the same, but it will be possible to choose from 20 licensed cars (mostly Japanese).

By installing various visual improvements, changing colors and emblems, it is possible to completely individualize your car. In addition, during the game you will have to make various performance improvements, namely the three main parameters: maximum speed, acceleration and handling. Of course, NFS: Underground is, first of all, an arcade car simulator (developers still cannot surpass the realism of Porsche Unleashed), so all the improvements made are conditional.

The game introduced new types of racing: drag-racing (racing in a straight line) and drift-racing (getting points for performing a controlled skid and slide). But the police will no longer be able to stay: for some reason there are no servants of the law in the world of underground street racing.

Music and sound effects allow you to fully immerse yourself in the atmosphere of NFS, feel like a fearless racer, tormented by a single thirst - "Need for Speed". This time in the Underground.

Interface and control

Main menu

At the beginning of the game, you will have to create a driver profile (there may be several such profiles). It automatically contains information about progress in the Underground mode - the main part of the game. The main menu consists of the following items:

Go underground. Switch to the appropriate mode.

Quick Race (Quick race). The ability to ride on any car already opened in Underground mode on any already open track with a set of upgrades of the available level. You can also pre-select transmission type (manual/automatic) and skill level of opponentstraffic intensity, number of laps, etc. (depending on race type).

Statistics (Statistics). View game statistics (rank in each type of race).

Customize Ride. Car selection for Quick Race. Its tuning is also carried out here: installation visual improvements (visual upgrades) and performance improvements (performance upgrades).

It is important: all changes made will only be reflected in the quick race mode. For the Underground mode, you need to make separate changes, and all improvements cost money in this mode.

Options — standard set of settings (Audio, Camera, Car, Controller, Display).

It is important: in the Car menu, you can select the type of gearbox for the Underground mode, as well as turn the stability control on or off.

Underground Mode

Underground mode is the main part. The plot events will unfold in 112 races (despite the fact that the total number indicated in the menu is 111) that you need to win to become the #1 racer. The game types in the Underground mode are the same as in the Quick race, with the exception of free check-in (free run). In addition, there is tournament mode (tournament - more details in the corresponding section). Race wins bring money (the amount depends on the selected difficulty level). They can be used to buy cars and spare parts for them, which become available as you progress through the game.

It is important: the difficulty level determines the AI ​​of your opponents, it can be changed before each tournament or race in the Underground.

Management in the game is quite simple and convenient. The meaning of the keys can be changed in the options, some default values ​​are given in table number 1.
