Netflix cancels Iron Fist after two seasons
The first season of Iron Fist was panned by critics, and the recently released second season received a warmer reception and praise. But that didn't seem to be enough to convince Netflix to order another season.
Through Deadline, Netflix and Marvel released a joint statement confirming the cancellation of Iron Fist after two seasons. In a statement, they said, “Marvel Iron Fist will not be returning for a third season on Netflix. Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for the hard work put in by our incredible cast and the entire team behind the show. We are grateful to the fans who watched these two seasons and for the partnership we have shared in this series. While the Netflix series is over, the immortal Iron Fist will live on"
This is the first time that Netflix has canceled a Marvel series, but that doesn't mean the project is dead. All the same Deadline reports that Disney Streaming could potentially become a new home for Iron Fist, and in particular its third season. Another possibility is to combine the characters from Iron Fist and Luke Cage into the Heroes for Hire series. In the comics, Iron Fist/Danny Rand and Luke Cage are friends and partners.
