Netflix Trolls Players With GTA 6 "Coming Soon" Tweet
Netflix shocked fans around the world when it revealed that the long-awaited Grand Theft Auto 6 is "Coming Soon" in a bizarre tweet.
On April 13, Netflix France randomly tweeted "GTA VI Coming Soon" with no content behind the tweet.
Fans and insiders were baffled by the tweet as it seemed completely out of place for Netflix to announce such an expected title.
Rockstar insider Yan2295 simply responded to Netflix with "yes, but really no", stating that the game is still a long way off.
One fan asked Netflix to clarify what they meant when they said Grand Theft Auto 6 was "coming soon" and how long they would have to wait.
Clearly trolling, Netflix responded by doubling down: "Between today and the end of the world, we'll see."
As more fans insisted on what they meant, the French account continued its antics. “We risk waiting a little longer for the game,” they replied with a laugh.
"It will arrive when it's ready, as will the series to be produced," Netflix France told.
While Netflix was clearly having fun and having a good time, this is just salt in the wound for those who expect real news to be announced soon about the next installment of the GTA franchise.
Rockstar themselves haven't even announced the game yet, but it's already one of the most significant titles in video game history, with a lot of rumors, speculation, and leaks.
The most recent one involved a job posting that seemed to suggest that GTA 6 would include in-game media such as websites that the characters would have access to. For some this eliminates the idea that the next game will take place in the 80s, as some previously expected.
Even well-known insider Tom Henderson confirmed this on Twitter when he stated that the game would be set in the present day.
However, we hope to see real announcements from Rockstar soon. Since GTA V and GTA Online will be re-released on PS5 and Xbox Series X in 2021, there's a chance GTA 6 could arrive later.
