While Newcastle is the star of the new season, we can also expect numerous changes to legends and weapons in the game as Respawn looks to balance out any existing issues.
We already know that massive changes are coming to Ranked Play, with a level down, a new “rookie” level, and more. You can check out all the changes to the ranked game here.
But what else is in store for the Season 13 update? We have collected all the information about the innovations and fixes so that you can stay up to date. Full patch notes will be released by Respawn closer to the season start date.
When will Apex Legends Season 13 release?

Apex Legends Season 13: Early Update Notes
Note: These are not full fix notes - we will update this article with full fix notes as soon as they are available.
New Legend: Newcastle
Upcoming Newcastle legend in season 13.
Newcastle joins the Apex Games - Bangalore's brother leaves his secret life and new family behind to protect his city.
We saw Newcastle's abilities in action in the gameplay trailer, showing that he has a deployable shield and can revive enemies by protecting them with his arm shield.
Map Changes Place of the Storm
The Place of the Storm appeared in Apex Legends in Season 11.
Defeated Beast is a new POI on Storm Point. High-level prey location, you will be able to fight in, around and on top of the lifeless carcass of the beast.
This is a new addition to the map, and not a replacement for any existing POIs, so the nearby Mill and North Pad remain intact.
There are also new IMC Arsenals - where you can fight waves of ghosts to unlock smart loot based on your gear.
Ranked rankings reload
One of the biggest changes in Season 13 is Ratings reboot — overhaul of the rating system.
- Level Down - You can now exit a level to be halfway down the previous level
- A new beginner level has been added - below bronze. This is for new players only.
- Kill RP cap removed
- The entry fee has changed. For Masters+Predator, the cost of entry increases with total RP (5 RP every 1000 RP, up to 175 RP)
- Auxiliary timer increased from 10s to 15s
Legend Changes
Respawn has yet to confirm any changes to Legend, but we do know that Rampart is set to receive the buff after it has been mined, as well as being accidentally added and then removed from the game in Season 12.
Ramparts buff
- Sheila mobile charge time reduced by 30% (1,75 seconds > 1,25 seconds)
We could also potentially see changes to Gibradtar and Pathfinder, as these are two legends that the developers have previously discussed as being built into updates. The ranger may be indebted to a new passive, and Gibby's shield becomes a target for change.
Weapon Changes
Kraber Nerf
One of the changes we can definitely look forward to in Season 13 is some Kraber nerfs. Apex producer Josh Medina confirmed that they are aiming to make the powerful sniper less annoying to play against.
LMG nerf
The LMG weapon category as a whole may also be getting some changes, as Jon Larson previously revealed that the team is looking to rebalance this powerful weapon, which is often difficult to get right.
Replicator rotation
In Season 13, we know that the R-301 and Rampage LMG will be placed in Replicators - no longer available as ground loot. This means Flatline and Longbow DMR will be back on the ground.
Care Package Rotation
Judging by the fact that there is a skin for the Spitfire in the Battle Pass, we can safely assume that it was removed from the package Care and went back to being ground prey.
We'll have to wait and see which weapons take their place in the care package in Season 13.
That's all we know about the Season 13 update, but we'll have a lot more to add closer to when the season releases on May 10th.
