Apex Legends Season 5 Update: New Content Details

Season 5: Apex Legends Lucky Smile update adds a new Legend, Loba, some major changes to the classic Canyon Kings map, and brand new quests. Everything you need to know and early patch notes are here.

As with every new season, a new Legend is the main attraction, but usually new weapons are thrown into the mix. It won't happen in season 5, at least at startup.

Whether new weapons will be released later in the season remains to be seen, but in other areas there is more than enough new content to make up for the lack of weapons.

Apex Legends Season 5 Release Time

Apex Legends Season 5 update coming available Tuesday, May 12 at 10:00 AM PT / 13:00 PM ET / 18:00 PM BST . This is going to be a big patch for a whole new season, so give yourself time to download it.

New Legend: Loba

Loba is the latest addition to the Apex Games roster. Arriving in Kings Canyon to exact revenge on her parents' killer, Revenant, she - violent character , with abilities that are sure to completely shake up the meta.

Admittedly, Revenant didn't live up to expectations, as his abilities weren't quite as game-changing as some had hoped. But Loba's kit will allow her to teleport, find high-level loot, and even steal loot.

Assignments

The first quest in Apex Legends will start in Season 5 called Shattered Ghost. These quests will be long-term, unlocking some of the secrets of the story, finding nine pieces of a mysterious artifact, participating in weekly "hunts".

Even if you don't care about lore, you still have valuable rewards, so these quests will definitely be worth your time. You can play them alone or in a team of three.

To unlock the hunt and earn rewards, you need to find five "treasure packs" in normal modes.

Map changes

Kings Canyon exposed overhaul during season 5 caused by the damage Loba caused during his cinematic trailer.

The City of Skulls (Schooltown) was destroyed, taking Thunder House with it. There is also a new zone to replace the previously empty area between the hydro dam and the wetlands. And speaking of wetlands, a new platform has been added here at the edge of the map.

There are also new Ultimate charging towers where you can instantly charge your character's Ultimate with the push of a button.

NEW LEGEND: LOBA

 

Stylish, sophisticated, and resourceful, Loba uses her Jump Bracelet to teleport to wherever she pleases and takes what she wants.

Tactics are a cracker's best friend

  • Teleport to hard-to-reach places or get out of trouble quickly by throwing your Jump Drive bracelet.

Ultimate - Black Market Boutique

  • Place a portable device that will allow you to teleport a nearby item into your inventory. Each friendly or enemy Legend can take up to two items.

Passive - Diamond Eye

  • Prey can be seen through walls.
  • The range is the same as Black Market Boutique.

CITY OF SKULLS PAL

(Official description)

Our main goal for season 5 was to change the dynamics. We wanted to create some kind of interesting challenge for a map that players know almost perfectly. We are trying to do this in two ways. First, we flooded Skull City and Thunderdome. Yes, the change is significant, but we hope that with their departure, other parts of the map will shine. The Broken Shore now extends from Octane's Obstacle Course all the way to the cliffs that lead to the Water Treatment Plant.

A new point called Scrap has also been added to the Broken Coast. This is a small industrial installation across from the market that holds an old leviathan skull above the water. Salvage - a protected arena with top tier loot - well connected to the surrounding area. In addition, there's a new zip-line balloon that gives players a great opportunity to jump from the Scrap to the obstacle course, as well as across the vast bay if they wish.

Away, along the Broken Coast, the remnants of the underground network, into which Loba penetrated, emerge onto the bay. This station, forgotten decades ago, is just one of many secrets hidden under the blood-soaked surface of Kings Canyon...

INSTALLATION, CAPACITOR quarry

The second change was the redesign of the northeast corner of the map. We felt that this part of the map was not given as much attention compared to the desert. We took a chance and added sushi to this top corner to expand the play space. Our task was to achieve a better balance for moving players around the map. Seen from the air, with this addition we are trying to move the center of the map to the northeast.

The Coastal Installation is a huge new area adjacent to the former Relay and Swamp areas. It connects to the now broken relay, capacitor, and swamps. Although you may have to travel a longer distance to the ring, you will be much better equipped than a unit that has chosen a low or medium tier central zone for landing. Head to the hanging platform at the north end of the facility, where you'll find some top tier loot!

The Capacitor is a large ground hub next to the coastal facility. Although it is located at lower altitudes, you will find a lot of trophies and opportunities for changing routes near the condenser. It opens a direct route from the plant to the central river, a new route to Singh's laboratories, and a road from the old relay to the new reclaimed forest.

In addition, we have added several new camps around the Capacitor Quarry. These are important spots to take a breather and resupply before heading into crowded areas. During testing, we realized that wide open spaces without loot often push players to take the shortest route straight to the center of the map. Our goal was to create more promising routes in the new space. More possible routes means more choice, which we hope will entail careful strategizing.

The excavated woodland from the original Kings Canyon continues to grow. New roads have made the restored forest more expressive and more diverse vertically. In addition, we have expanded the exterior of the Singh Laboratories to make it a suitable landing site. Although the changes to the reforested zone are not as noticeable, we wanted to add more explicit routes to the zone to make it easier to understand traffic in this zone.

CHARGING TOWERS

The Charge Towers, first discovered while researching the Capacitor, have been redesigned by the Syndicate for the Apex Games.

Charge Towers are a new addition to the Apex Legends sandbox. Through the control panel, you can call a discharge that restores the ultimate ability of each player on the platform of the charging tower. Agree, a powerful tool. We hope that they will provide important new landmarks that will allow units to make strategic moves that would not have been possible before.

Look for the glowing yellow towers all over Kings Canyon and make sure you're on top of them the moment you strike!

THERE IS SO MUCH BURIED HERE

In addition to major changes, we've made a number of minor map updates and fixed countless issues. Some of this you will immediately notice as the game progresses. For the sake of others, you will have to dig a little, but, as for me, this is the beauty of new discoveries. I look forward to seeing you all in the Canyon.

Ranked series 4

This new season starts a new ranked series! This season we're following basically the same format, but we've also introduced the key Reconnect feature.

RECONNECT

Players who leave a match unexpectedly can now join an ongoing match. "Unexpected" means exiting a match by any means other than the system menu, including crashing, using alt+f4 on PC, or "dashboard" to close the game on console. To restore the connection, simply restart the game and enter the lobby. The game will automatically attempt to reconnect you if the match is still valid, your squad is still alive, and your chance to reconnect has not expired. Reconnect will be available for all competitive modes.

The characters of disconnected players remain in the state they were in while the player was connected. To their teammates, it will look like the disabled player has failed (with an icon next to their name indicating the disabled). This means that when the player reconnects, they can immediately pick up where they left off. Unless they were killed beforehand. Player characters can be knocked out and eliminated while the player is disabled. Disconnected players whose characters have died can be revived normally by transferring their banner to the spawn beacon before or after the player reconnects.

If a player does not reconnect in time, the disconnected player's character is removed as normal and the game will treat their disconnection as an abandonment. There is a limited time window in which a player can reconnect, and failing to do so in the rankings will result in a loss penalty. Loss Forgiveness does not activate until the player is completely removed from the game, so don't drop them in a ranked match when your teammates have a chance to reconnect!

Mirage 

Now it's a party! Your favorite trickster has learned some new tricks to confuse his enemies in this new makeover for Season 5.

Designer Note: The hope for this rework is that it adds more depth to Mirage gameplay, giving Mirage players opportunities to improve their Bamboozling skills.

  • ♦Tactical: Psyche
    • ♦Pressing the character's utility action button allows Mirage to take control of his decoy.
    • ♦By controlling the decoy, it will mimic Mirage's every move.
    • ♦Decoys now last 60 seconds.
    • ♦Releasing another decoy will remove the previous decoy.
  • ♦Ultimate: party life
    • ♦ Mirage deploys a team of decoys that mimic his every move (remember "Emergency Dance Party" from DUMMIEs Big Day).
    • ♦Cooldown 60 seconds.
  • ♦Passive: now you see me...
    • ♦In addition to hiding when falling, Mirage also camouflages by using a respawn beacon and resurrecting a teammate (teammate is also hidden).
  • ♦ Mirage's "You Bamboozled" line now triggers when you confuse an enemy instead of when you release the bait.

Bloodhound

  • ♦Tactical: Eye of the Allfather
    • ♦Sonar detection increased from 3 to 4 seconds.
    • ♦Reduced cooldown from 35 to 25 seconds.

Crypto

  • ♦Tactical: Drone
    • ♦Crypto can now ping banners while in a drone to alert teammates to nearby units.

lifeline

  • ♦Increased Lifeline ben ratio to 20%
  • ♦Removed knockdown shields from the pool of secret compartments

Caustic

Designer's Note: This is something of an experiment. We will make sure that this change does not cause any degenerate player behavior.

  • ♦ Friendly gas no longer slows teammates.
  • ♦Caustic traps no longer trigger on the other side of the door.

Octane

Note to the designer: This is the first step in promoting an additional team for Octane. We have more updates planned, but they didn't make a cut for this patch.

  • ♦ Launch Pad cooldown reduced from 90 to 60 seconds.

Gibraltar

Designer's Note: Internal data shows that Gibraltar's performance in individual fights is at a good level, but we want to slightly reduce its power in team fights.

  • ♦ Dome Shield duration reduced from 18 seconds to 12 seconds.

Pathfinder

Designer's Note: Given the power of fast travel in Apex, Pathfinder's Grappling Hook's combat reusability is overpowered and cloudy in combat clarity.

  • ♦ Grappling Hook cooldown has been increased from 15 seconds to 35 seconds.

WEAPONS AND LOOT UPDATES

Season 5 is the first season. Apex doesn't get new weapons. We stepped back and asked ourselves, does Apex need new weapons every season? If we keep adding new weapons, the weapon pool will become saturated. We believe there is a "right" amount of weapons in the loot pool, and we think we're currently in that sweet spot. Vaulting weapons is not an option (because players have purchased skins), so we have to be more creative. We have a few ideas on how to fix this problem, but we need time to test them and see if they are useful for Apex. We also want to make sure that the weapons we add have real value to the gameplay. We have some fun stuff in the works. Our weapons team is hard at work. In the meantime, we hope the changes below can inspire you to explore and master the Season 5 weapon meta.

  • ♦Mastiff is transformed from a crusher into a regular weapon, the power of which is reduced accordingly.
  • ♦Reduced damage per shot from 18 to 13.
  • ♦Reduced headshot multiplier from 2,0 to 1,25.
  • ♦Increased explosion distances for external pairs of pellets.
  • ♦Increased the ADS multiplier on the explosive scale from 0,5 to 0,55.
  • ♦Reduced rate of fire from 1,3 to 1,0.
  • ♦Reduced projectile size to be more in line with other regular guns.
  • ♦Increased the number of projectiles from 4 to 6.
  • ♦Increased projectile speed to standard shotgun speed.

Peacemaker

  • ♦Peacekeeper transforms from a regular weapon into a weapon pack with a corresponding increase in its power.
  • ♦Long form of granules distribution.
  • ♦Reduced reload time from 1,2 to 0,9.
  • ♦Reduced reload time from 2,65 to 2,45 base and from 3,6 to 3,35 empty.
  • ♦ Increased projectile size to improve consistency at close range.

Alternator

  • ♦Increased magnet size from 16 to 19. Level 1 Advanced Mage is now 22, Level 2 is 25, and Level 3 is 27.

RE-45

  • ♦Increased damage from 11 to 12.
  • ♦Reduced reload time from 1,74 to 1,5 bases and from 2,12 to 1,95 empty

Havoc

  • ♦Vertical recoil increased.
  • ♦Horizontal recoil slightly increased.
  • ♦Recoil on the first two shots increased.

Longbow D.M.R.

  • ♦ Shot scale reduced from 2,15 to 2,1.

Slave

  • ♦ Shot scale reduced from 2,1 to 2,0.

  • ♦EMP Crypto now affects DUMMIE at the range.
  • ♦Fixed an issue that caused Revenant's death totem to be visible through smoke or gas.
  • ♦Fixed several Pathfinder banner poses that were causing garbled graphics.
  • ♦Adjusted Octane's jump pad to make it harder to fall through cracks when deployed.
  • ♦Fixed an issue where Caustic's Ultimate would not deploy when thrown under small surfaces.

  • ♦We've redesigned the Deathbox UI to better split the loot so you can find what you need faster.
