Battlefield 2042 Update 1.1: Vehicle Balance Changes, Bug Fixes, Details

New update Battlefield 2042 came out today, focusing on some of the performance issues the game has been dealing with almost since its launch.

There have been dozens of fixes across the maps today, as well as balance changes to both vehicles and DMRs.

In addition, some new features will also seep into the portal interface as it attempts to add new options and modifiers to the rules editor. This will allow players to create their own modes and have more control over this aspect of the game than ever before.

However, for a brief overview, here are all the highlights.


Battlefield 2042 1.1 Official Update Notes

Common

  • A new widget has been added to the main menu showing how many friends are online. Now you will also see the number of online friends directly in the Social tab.
  • Voice chat options now show which device is being used for voice input
  • Fixed some cases where controllers were not providing input when starting the game
  • You will no longer get stuck on the "party leader select game" screen in the lobby when the party leader has already entered the next game. Friends stick together!
  • You will no longer see "Unassigned" or "Not Assigned" text in the menu when using an alternate controller layout
  • Party leader icon added to the Social menu
  • Camera settings for 3rd person vehicle field of view are now applied immediately without having to switch back and forth between camera settings
  • Lineup changes during a party now automatically sets the party's VoIP setting
  • The kill log would sometimes not show all kills made on the "Show Kills Made" setting for ALL. It now correctly shows all kills.
  • Weapon amulets should now always be visible on weapons when scrolling through the menu
  • Bonus missions now show the correct expiration time
  • End-of-round visual effects for Battle Pass rewards no longer disappear after playing a Portal match
  • The Zoom button now works correctly when previewing charms in the catalog
  • Zoom in/out is now smoother in the preview menu
  • Fixed overlapping icons in tags for players you removed
  • Completed quests that did not previously grant their reward should now retroactively grant them
  • Reduced reward for point assists to 10 XP
  • How match players are selected is now more consistent
  • Player icons and health bars now update faster when their state changes
  • Various changes have been made to smooth out the overall camera experience

Added new XP events:

  • New Pilot Kill Bonus Event - Triggers shoot and kill the pilot of an aircraft with you
  • New Disarm Mine event - triggered when you disarm an enemy AT Mine with Interact
  • Repair Assistance - Triggered when someone in a vehicle you have recently repaired kills an enemy with that vehicle

Kill Card has received several improvements:

  • A list of nearby or incoming receivers is now visible on the Kill Card along with information about the killer
  • If there are no assists in the kill, then the assists will not show up on the Killcard
  • There is now an animation when Killcard is shown on the screen or when it is hidden or skipped.

  • Players can adjust the number of vehicles in Air Superiority and Ground Superiority game modes
  • AI soldiers are now better at climbing ladders in classic era maps
  • Underbarrel mounts can now replenish as expected with ammo crates
  • Added Ranger to Restrictions tab
  • Teleport action block now works inside headquarters

Audio

Added new and unique character voices for:

  • Battlefield 1942 British Engineer
  • Battlefield 1942 American anti-tank
  • Battlefield 1942 German Engineer (aka Günther)
  • Added additional voice lines for Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3 soldiers not in a squad

Cards

  • Added 4 very small layouts for existing maps (Battle for the Bulge, El Alamein, Kaleidoscope and Manifesto). They are suitable for creating new Vehicle TDM capabilities, but they will also work with Team Deathmatch and Free-for-All modes.
  • Several fixes have been made to Classic Era maps to address issues with terrain, props, and collisions.

Modifiers

  • Added passenger seat modifier: disabling passenger seats allows you to increase the maximum number of vehicles.
  • Added the ability to switch the availability of passenger seats
  • Added "Set Max Health Multiplier" modifier to vehicles

  • Added GetVehicleState LinearVelocity value block
  • Added the ability to enable and disable capture points in air superiority and ground superiority
  • Added GetCapturePoint value block
  • Allow error reporting to send additional payloads in error logs
  • Adding a new action block to send custom error reports in the logic editor

Vehicle

Bad company 2

  • Replaced UH-60 in Russian team with Mi-24 Hind
  • Replaced the BMP-2 in the Russian team with the BMD-3

Battlefield 3

  • Added A-10 Warthog and SU-25TM Frogfoot as new vehicles

Gadgets

  • Fixed several clipping animations for melee weapons when jumping over obstacles
  • Fixed several gadgets being clipped through arms while jumping
  • The EMP effect from thrown EMP grenades will no longer affect players outside of the visual radius

Anti-aircraft missile FXM-33

  • FXM-33 AA Missile UI will no longer stay on screen when switching to another weapon
  • Fixed a bug due to which the "In Stealth" status was not displayed when blocking helicopters with FXM-33 AA

recovery tool

  • The "Repair" voiceover no longer plays when attempting to repair destroyed vehicles
  • Using the recovery tool no longer results in camera shake

Smoke grenade launcher

  • The name of the smoke grenade launcher is now displayed correctly in the kill log and the kill map

SOFLAM

  • Vehicle overlay for SOFLAM now has accurate colors gray when running and yellow when fully locked

Spawn Lighthouse

  • Beacon spawn now requires 1 to 2 bullets to destroy instead of 4 to 7

Dangerous area

  • Increased data disk scanner cost from 0 to 200
  • Scans now only show players carrying data discs
  • Data disks are now globally shown in the world
  • IBA armor plates are now free and default gadget
  • If your squad is erased before the first extraction, then the entire squad is redistributed once every 15 seconds to a different location than the one where you first inserted
  • Redeploy and Second Chance now spawn players at 500m instead of 100m. Until the player is 100m above the ground, the parachute cannot be used

A few more changes have been added to get you into the Danger Zone match faster:

  • Map view has been removed
  • Reduced the number of players required to start the timer to start a round even if the server is not yet full
  • Reduced startup timer from 2 -> 1 minute

Tactical Items

  • The Quickdraw holster has been removed
  • Throwable Increase I – Increased to +2 additional throwables, up from +1
  • Faster Healing I - Increased healing from 50%, up from 20%
  • Insider Information - Location increase from 30s > 60s to hit
  • Insider Information - Reduced rarity to rarity, compared to Epic
  • Insider Information - Cost reduction from 400 to > 200 credits
  • Biometric Scanning - now detecting enemies takes 100% longer, up from 50%
  • Biometric Scan - increased rarity to rarity compared to normal
  • Biometric Scanning - cost increase from 100 -> 200 credits
  • Deal Table - Increased cost from 400 -> 600 credits
  • Ammo Upgrade II – Increased to +3 additional magazines, up from +2
  • Ammo Boost II - Increased rarity to Epic, up from Rare
  • Ammo Upgrade II – Cost increase from 400 -> 600 credits
  • Faster Healing II - Increased healing by 100%, up from 50%
  • Faster Healing II - Increased cost from 400 -> 600 credits

Maps and modes

  • Fixed several visual, collision, lighting and interaction bugs on current era maps
  • Fixed an issue on Discarded that could cause defending players to get stuck spawning
  • Fixed cases on Discarded where EMP grenades would explode without delay after being thrown
  • It is no longer the case that the wrong voice-over occasionally plays when a match is in overtime.

Breakthrough

  • Added distinctive badges for both attackers and defenders
  • Added directional retreat indicators for defenders. This will help you figure out which direction you need to back off.
  • Objective icons now show a description of hold, defend, attack, or fold to make it easier to see where you need to go
  • The sound has been changed to increase the feeling of tension during the match
  • Smoothed transition from match to end of round screen

Soldier

  • Soldiers will no longer occasionally waddle through terrain when running up steep slopes.
  • Gadgets and weapons will no longer sometimes cut through walls while jumping
  • Ping locations are no longer inaccurate when you are in a car seat as a passenger
  • Jumping will no longer be interrupted after sliding
  • Improved soldier hip rotation animation
  • You can now jump over some of the corner walls that prevented you from doing so earlier.
  • You can now move while aiming down the aim and while prone
  • Strafing no longer causes the camera to move slightly
  • Fixed an issue where the 3P animation would not always show you were in a sprint
  • Polished the spawn animation of enemy soldiers
  • Improved animations for a soldier jumping and descending from an overturned plane
  • Switching to your primary weapon in the middle of a melee attack now shows the correct melee animation
  • Fall damage should no longer be inconsistent
  • Improved animation when looking down while sprinting
  • Pinging an enemy hovercraft no longer plays a voice-over indicating that it is empty and ready to use
  • Players should no longer slide off after a takedown
  • Fixed a broken animation when throwing an ammo crate or medical crate while jumping
  • Death animation when removing redeploy
  • Parachute/wingsuit tooltip no longer stays on screen after they are deployed
  • You will no longer automatically enter a vehicle if you revive a teammate who was under it.
  • You will no longer receive a delete request when a delete is currently being performed on you
  • It is now possible to interrupt the initial deployment animation during ADS
  • Moving sometimes caused the animation of certain weapons to break, this has been fixed.
  • When reviving a player, there was a chance that weapon attachments would become creepy and out of place. We cured their fear of the dead

Several improvements have been made to the soldier movement animation:

  • Decoupled aiming from turning so the 3P animation can now look around a bit before triggering the turn animation
  • Added tilt to 3P animation
  • Added new and improved idle animations

Specialists

Angel

  • Download blocked message is no longer displayed when an error occurs when interacting with the download box
  • You can now stay crouched while interacting with the Angel Supply Crate.
  • Fixed a repetitive animation when selecting a supply package multiple times
  • The 3P flash effect is now visible when revived by Angel
  • Angel's trait has been reformulated to indicate that it now only supplies ammo and not armor.

Boris

  • Fixed several inconsistent placement areas for the SG-36 Sentry Gun on display
  • The "Place Turret" hint is no longer displayed after the SG-36 Sentry Gun is already deployed
  • The SG-36 Sentry Gun can no longer shoot down at extreme angles
  • The SG-36 Sentry Gun can now fall through broken glass

Casper

  • It is no longer possible to deploy the OV-P Recon Drone in elevators, which allows players to see through walls. This will now destroy the drone.

Bulldozer

  • The correct kill map is now displayed while the bulldozer dies from heavy fire when deploying the SOB-8 ballistic shield
  • The SOB-8 ballistic shield can now block missiles from the G-84 TGM

Falk

  • Using ADS with the S21 Syrette pistol now shows the correct visual effect instead of a red art
  • Shooting at allies with the S21 Syrette no longer causes friendly fire off-screen.

  • Field Grenades EMP hit now causes you to exit the G-84 TGM TV screen

  • Increased G-84 TGM screen exit delay to 1 second
  • It is no longer possible to damage friendly aircraft with the G-84 TGM missile
  • The G-84 TGM missile will no longer bounce off vehicles

Announce

  • The Hack indicator should no longer freeze in place after starting a hack

Sundance

  • Anti-Armored Intelligent Explosive UI no longer gets stuck in lockdown when the grenade is already deployed
  • The kill feed now properly lists players killed by the Scatter Grenade

Pike

  • Scrolling weapons with the mouse wheel no longer activates Pyke's EMG-X scanner

User Interface/HUD

  • Commo Rose now shows abbreviated target names to prevent text being cut off or overlapped
  • List of nearby players now accurately reflects nearby teammates
  • Players dying due to friendly fire no longer appear as enemies in Kill Feed
  • The Need Spotting Commorose command no longer displays empty text in the game feed
  • Player name tags no longer change position when closed with a lid
  • You will no longer see the hit indicator when shooting at a dead enemy

Vehicle

  • Anti-air and anti-tank castles on missiles will now acquire new targets without delay. This should make target switching much smoother.
