Borderlands 3 Update: All Changes September 27th

Just a day after the Borderlands 3 patch was released, Gearbox is back with a new update quick fixes. This primarily concerns rebalancing for weapons, enemies and various characters. While this may not sound as exciting as the new features, it's actually a big deal as it greatly affects your character's skill tree selection and the effectiveness of numerous weapons. The patch is already up and running and has some pretty significant buffs and nerfs to be aware of. Here's a look at the highlights and full patch notes.

Every Vault Hunter has received an adjustment, with the exception of Mose, but in very different directions. Zane greatly increased the power of his tools to deal with the lack of impact. FL4K, meanwhile, had its guerrillas in the fog duration and the critical damage bonus reduced. Amara sits in the middle, having received a nerf to her Guardian Angel ability but a buff to glamor.

Gearbox also says in the patch notes that it used data analytics from players to customize weapons. “Billions of guns have been fired, and after collecting some data, we have them balanced some weapon types. "These adjustments are intended to level the playing field and increase build diversity for all vault hunters."

WEAPON FIXES

Sniper rifle

Sniper rifles deal high damage but were cumbersome to use in certain scenarios. This change will increase their overall damage and improve usability in combat.

  • Critical damage increased by 20%
  • Rate of fire increased by 15%
  • Time to aim (ads) reduced by 15%
  • Equipment time reduced by 20%

Pistols

The Jakobs and Torgue pistols were superior to other manufacturers, dealing damage to groups of enemies at a much higher rate than other pistols. This change keeps their identity intact, but reduces the group's overall control. TEDIORE, DAHL and Children Of The Vault Pistols received punitive damages that affected their overall damage. Increasing their overall damage output will allow them to overcome some of the penalties while maintaining their unique play style and feel.

  • Increased damage from all TEDIORE pistols by 15%
  • Increased damage on all Dahl pistols by 15%
  • Increased damage on all Children of the Vault Pistols by 20%
  • Reduced damage from Jacobs pistols by 15%
  • Reduced damage from Torgue pistols by 10%

Maliwan Manufacturer

Maliwan weapons reduced overall damage because they dealt elemental points at a speed and damage significantly higher than other manufacturers. This effect was mitigated prior to launch, but the overall damage was not adjusted enough to make up for the drop in elemental points. We've added back some of the overall damage and are making weapons faster so elemental builds can actually take advantage of Maliwan weapons.

  • Malivan weapon damage increased by 25%
  • The rate of fire of Maliwan weapons is increased by 20%

Atlas Manufacturer

Atlas weapons relied on a game loop that the developers felt gave players a greater advantage when used correctly. It turns out that the loop is not used if the damage does not compensate for the tuning time. So now Atlas weapon damage should make it easier for players to use them overall on top of the badass feeling when they use Atlas tech.

  • All Atlas weapon damage increased by 25%

Miscellaneous Adjustments

The change to the Jacobs assault rifle was to differentiate the assault rifle from the pistol as a more mid-range powerhouse. Because Assault Rifles have low magazine sizes compared to other Assault Rifles, they receive a slight increase in overall damage to compensate. DAHL SMGs had their rate of fire adjusted prior to launch, but their damage was never increased enough, so they should feel more appropriate compared to other SMGs. And Vladof heavy weapon damage has been increased to share in full heavy weapon handling.

  • Jacobs assault rifle damage increased by 20%
  • DAHL SMG damage increased by 10%
  • Vladof heavy weapon damage increased by 25%
  • E-Tech TEDIORE Shotgun damage increased by 50%

Legendary Modifications

The summoning of the King and Queen has been changed to reduce the rate of fire. The weapon has a limited number of shots, so the overall feel of the gun is not greatly affected.

  • King's and Queen's Call Fire speed reduced by 50%
  • Firestorm and Storm base charge time has been reduced to 1 second (from 2)

GRAVEWARD

Beam attacks were not properly scaled based on level, so at higher levels two beam attacks were unlikely to phase players. Players will find his attacks to be more deadly now. In addition, Graveward is a very large enemy and is too easily affected by elemental damage unlike other large bosses. Elemental damage is now greatly reduced, but to compensate, the boss's overall health has been reduced.

  • Attacks graveward now scale based on level
  • Decreased overall health by 20%
  • Increased resistance to elemental damage
    - Elemental chance resistance increased by 70%
    - Elemental resistances increased by 30%
    - Elemental point duration reduced by 30%

OTHER CHANGES

  • The guard rank hollow point has been temporarily disabled. The problem will be fixed in a future patch.
  • Vault Hunters should no longer yell when hit by a dot while shields are active.
  • Vending machines will now be restocked with higher quality Deals of the Day.
  • Adjusted the visual concern for the Nalivan guns with cryo elements.
  • Legendary loot has been balanced throughout the game. Crew challenges enemies that drop their intended specific loot, and some enemies like Troy and Rampager will be a bit more mean and will no longer drop legends every kill.

HUNTERS ADJUSTMENTS

Zane

Zane's gadgets were great at providing extra utility, but they lacked impact once players leveled up. DigiClone's damage has been increased with all weapons equipped so the skill can scale better with players as they get to higher levels and more difficult content. The drone requires a lot of player input to fully utilize its damage and increase base damage, and the buffs will greatly increase the drone's versatility and reward players even more for using it effectively.

  • Digi clone damage increased by 38%
  • Drone damage increased by 50%
    - Cryo bullet damage penalty removed
    - Unmanned rocket damage increased by 50%
    - Almighty rocket projectile damage increased by 75%

Amara

  • Guardian Angel health regen reduced from 100% to 50%
  • Glamor damage penalty reduced from -30% to -10%

FL4K

The bonuses of guerrillas in the fog far outweighed his base skill penalty. The overall damage output had to be adjusted slightly because it outperformed other builds. There may be another change to ammo returns in a future patch.

  • Guerillas in the Mist duration reduced from 8 seconds to 6 seconds
  • Guerillas in the Mist Critical damage bonus reduced from 50% to 25%
