Fortnite Update 17.20: LeBron James, Underground Location, Invasion Troops, etc.

Fortnite players are always on the lookout for new content, and they should brace themselves for big changes with the upcoming major patch.

Here's everything new we know about the v17.20 update, starting with all the details about Fortnite server downtime.

When will the Fortnite v17.20 update be released?

The patch was originally expected to release on July 13 after some unexpected delays.

However, based on the large amount of communications we've seen from Epic Games, including a couple of teasers, we've come to the consensus that it will release much earlier on July 6th.

Skin LeBron James

Leading up to the patch, well-known and trusted source ShiinaBR stated that LeBron James would be the next skin in the ICON series, and afterward said that he had "100% confirmation" that it would happen. And it turns out he was right.

It was only a matter of time before he appeared on the scene, given that his son, Bronnie, is a member of the FaZe Clan. Now, he has followed in the footsteps of Neymar Jr. and is the next sports superstar to enter the Fortnite universe.

LeBron James will be the next superstar to get the Fortnite ICON skin.

Epic Games posted a tweet describing an alien invasion that is about to happen on Fortnite Island.

“Attention, plates, this is cool!” the teaser says. “Just intercepted a call from IO that alien ground forces have begun mobilizing west. The islanders should be on high alert.”

Last but not least, Epic Games also posted a teaser image revealing a new underground point of interest.

It looks like a cave with a massive UFO half buried in the mud at the bottom, which ties in with the whole alien invasion theme.

Fortnite 17.20 bug fixes

Apart from new content and features, Epic Games is always trying to fix some bugs and issues with the game. Here is a list of everything they intend to resolve in the 17.20 update, according to their official Trello board.

• The arena/tournament information button is currently unresponsive on the controller.
  • We are aware that the Arena Division/Tournament information button is currently unresponsive on the controller. We are working on a fix for this issue.
• The "Hold Inventory Button" shortcut to access the crafting menu does not work.
  • The "Hold Inventory Button" shortcut for the crafting menu simply leads to the inventory menu instead of the crafting menu.
• Sometimes epic chests in the Arena may not contain weapons.
  • We are aware that sometimes players can search for an epic chest in the arena and not get weapons. We are investigating the problem.
• It is not possible to fish in some vehicles.
  • We're aware of an issue that prevents players from using a fishing rod in the passenger seat of a powerboat or in the back of an OG Bear pickup truck.
• The props randomly drive vehicles.
  • Driving a vehicle disguised as a prop causes the vehicle to move erratically.
• It is not possible to open the space chest if the player left the team.
  • If a player leaves the team during a match, the team will not be able to open the space chest in the match.
• "Bars" are displayed as 0 in the lobby when the game is opened.
  • When opening the game, the total scale of the players will be displayed as 0 in the lobby. This problem is only visual: players still have all their bars.
• Space chest timers may remain on screen if the reward is intercepted.
  • Players can continue to see the space chest timer at 0:00 if they have an active reward that an enemy player poachs while opening the chest.
• The fire is temporarily disabled in the combat laboratory.
  • To resolve a stability issue, fire has been temporarily disabled in the combat lab.

Creative mode

• The player may encounter an infinite loading screen when flying off the island.
  • We are investigating an issue that causes players to experience an infinite loading screen when exiting an island.

Save the world

• Saurian Vigor perk stops working after respawn
  • The Saurian Vigor perk (regenerates health every 5 seconds) will stop working after the player revives.

General questions

• Xbox players leave the group when they return to the lobby.
  • Xbox players can leave their group by returning to the lobby. (Please note that affected players are not blocked from rejoining the group.)
• New items are equipped automatically after being picked up.
  • New items that are picked up will automatically be equipped under certain circumstances.
• Unable to complete Last Forever Emote.
  • Players may not be able to use the last emote permanently after selecting it.
• Difficulty scrolling through the list of players in the "Voice Chat" tab on the controller.
  • Players on a controller may have difficulty scrolling through the player list in the Voice Chat tab if the player list is long.
• Xbox players will not be able to re-subscribe to Fortnite Crew.
  • Xbox players may not be able to re-subscribe to Fortnite Crew due to any outstanding account balances. The UI may cause players to loop and will need to be allowed through the Xbox Account Management website.
