Fortnite Update V12.30 Changed Aim
Fortnite players have discovered some unannounced changes made to aiming in the latest 12.30 patch that have further leveled the playing field between controller and mouse+keyboard.
Released on March 31st, Fortnite's latest update added some new content to the battle royale, including Kingsman umbrellas and Crash Pads .
As has usually been the case since Chapter 2, Epic Games did not release any official patch notes, which meant players had to try and figure out the rest of the changes themselves.
It turns out that Epic has actually made some pretty major changes, changing some of the aiming mechanics for mouse+keyboard players.
Shortly after the downtime is over, the gamer bhronos tweeted some clips demonstrating two important adjustments for recoil and spray.
It appears that recoil and spray now work the same on PC as they do on a controller, whereas they used to be much easier to deal with using gamepads.

According to the player, this balancing act of recoil and flinch was actually a buff to the keyboard and not a nerf to the controllers.
The second secret aiming change that Epic made was the flinch mitigation: "Also, you no longer flinch when you take damage, so your aim doesn't get lost."
Bhronos commented on the clip that this tweak was implemented the same on both peripherals, further balancing them out when it comes to aiming mechanics.
While these changes don't solve the great "targeting debate" that's been raging all the time, they should help further unify two player bases that have been at odds with each other since the early days of Fortnite.
At least those on M+KB will have more confidence knowing they have the same recoil, spread and flinch as their controller-using counterparts from now on. Considering how important these settings are, it's surprising that Epic Games didn't mention them at all.
But this has been the norm for developers, at least in recent months, so the Fortnite community has had to rely on players like bhronos to detect unannounced tweaks.
