Overwatch Update May 12th: Moira Nerf, Angela Buff & More
The new Overwatch patch has hit the live servers, and with it comes a host of significant changes to the support bases and buffs.
Big changes to the map are coming in the form of buffs for Angel and Zenyatta. Angel received a direct healing effect - something players have been asking for for quite some time.
In addition, Zenyatta's Discord ability has been improved. Now when the enemy is discounted, they take 30% more damage than with 25%. This completely removes the nerf that Zenyatta received during the GOAT meta where teams were running him along with two other props.
While these buffs will no doubt help Zenyatta and Angel's network, Ana's healing nerfs can also help boost their meta status. With Ana's healing reduction this could open the door for more Angel play, especially with her good synergy with Echo. It's important to note that Ana was one of the best heroes at disabling Echoes, either with shots or Duplicate.
Finally, there have been major changes to Bastion and Moira. Bastion sees his Sentry spread reduced and can now heal himself more, but at a greater resource loss. Moira sees her Biotic Orb lose 3 seconds and is now 7 seconds long, down from 10.
The balance updates were first introduced by Overwatch Game Director Jeff Kaplan in a developer update on May 11, where he announced that Open Queue would be a permanent addition to the game.
While Open Queue is already running alongside Role Queue in the arcade, it will be a full-fledged competitive mode by summer 2020.
