Riot Games has confirmed that the League of Legends 10.18 update will be released on schedule, and we have all of the early patch notes, champion balance changes, and more for players to dig into ahead of the September 2nd update.
This time around, it looks like more teasers for the 151st League champion may be coming to the live server, and Riot is gearing up for a 2020 World Cup balance update in the next two weeks. Here are all the details about the League of Legends 10.18 update coming this week.
When will update 10.18 for League of Legends be released?
The next League of Legends update is expected to be released on Wednesday, September 2nd. It will launch in Oceania at 8:00 AM EST (3 pm Tuesday) and release in all regions at 8:00 AM.
Players can expect several hours of downtime. Matchmaking and access to LoL servers will be disabled approximately three hours before the patch rolls out. This will be around 5am PT on September 2nd for US players and 5am GMT for Russia and EU players.
Samira, Desert Rose
It looks like Riot Games will be adding Samira, Rose of the Desert, to the League of Legends champion roster in patch 10.18. Warrior with weapons will be the 151st new LoL character.
“Samira is a gifted, ruthless marksman who recharges her style meter as she hunts for the most flashy kill. Because it's not about winning, it's about the thrill," Riot said of the new champion in a cinematic trailer released on August 30.
Leaks have previously claimed that Samira has abilities similar to four other champions already in LoL. It was also rumored that her "amazing" kit would draw inspiration from Katarina's ultimate, Irelia W, Urgot W, and Nunu and Willump's ultimate.
Much of Samira's skill set was already explored before LoL Patch 10.18. Here's everything we know about Desert Rose's abilities:
Samira's abilities
Reckless Impulse (Passive): Successive use of non-repeatable skills (and auto-attacks) increases Samira's style rating by one letter, from "E" to "S". For each new rating, she gets an increase in movement speed. Samira fights with a sword in close combat and pistols at a distance; the sword deals additional magic damage.
Samira can also throw up enemies who are restricted in their movement by her allies. At the same time, the duration of control is increased.
- Q - Outrageous: Samira slashes nearby enemies with her sword and switches to pistols if the target is within range.
- W - Blade Sweep: Samira rotates with her sword, dealing damage to nearby enemies twice and destroying all enemy projectiles around her during the cast and until the end of the skill.
- E - Furious Rush: Samira dashes towards her target, dealing magic damage to all enemies in her path and gaining attack speed until the end of the skill. Killing or assisting enemy champions resets Fury Rush's cooldown.
- R - Hellfire: Samira unleashes a barrage of bullets at all nearby enemies up to 10 times over the duration of the skill. Each shot deals physical damage and can be critical. In addition, lifesteal applies to shots.
Samira can only cast Inferno if her current style score is "S" (max).
In update 10.18, Ahri is undergoing a "overhaul" of gameplay.
The biggest balance plans Riot has committed to LoL Patch 10.18 is a major gameplay overhaul for mid lane mage Ahri. The league's favorite Legend fell out of favor in recent updates despite being one of the title's top stars.
Mark Yetter confirmed that the plan is to "enhance the gameplay" for the character with a few buffs that should make her kit less cumbersome to use. Riot also wants to open their key windows to punish enemies.
Everything from her base health regeneration (up to 5,5, up from 6,5) to powerful abilities has come under the microscope in this patch. Vastyan's passive skill, formerly called Essence Steal, has now been changed to Vastyan Grace.
The LoL Favorite also has a new passive like her old Orb of Deception. Her W also has a new fade motion buff and deals more damage.
LoL Patch 10.18 Introduces Psy-Squad Skin Line
The new LoL patch will also add a brand new line of skins. The "PsyOps" cosmetic was added to the PBE this week. Master Yi, Ezreal, Shen, Sona and V will receive skins. Ezreal will also receive a special version of the Prestige.
New Arrival League of Legends Samira will also receive a PsyOps skin as part of her LoL release. Here is a teaser for the full line of skins released on September 1st:
Jarvan IV, Rumble, Miss Fortune, Twitch and Xin Zhao will also be buffed in the next League of Legends update. Sett, Ash, Shen, Galio and mid Kog'Mau will go the other way with a couple of nerfs.
