Apex Legends Season 8 Update: Mayhem will release on February 2, and while patch notes are not expected until just before the update goes live, we already know of confirmed changes and fixes to come. Here's a preview of what's expected in the update.
Obviously, the main changes will be the addition new legend, Fuza, originally from Salvo, as well as new weapon - Repeater 30-30 .
Kings Canyon will also be heavily modified , as Fuze's entry into the Apex games didn't go smoothly and his old friend Maggie literally ruined the party.
But the most exciting part of the patch notes will be how Respawn has adjusted various legends with nerfs and buffs, as well as some planned quality of life changes.
Apex Legends Season 8: Early Patch Notes
New legend
Straight out of Salvo, Fuze is an explosive legend and his abilities reflect that. He can shoot projectiles from your prosthesis , and his ultimate will fire a mortar-like missile that explodes into a ring of fire.
Fuze's abilities:
- Passive: Grenadier - Fuse's mechanical arm throws projectiles farther, faster and more accurately. Fuse can also put more grenades in the inventory slot than other legends.
- Tactic: Cassette brass knuckles - Deploy a cluster bomb that destroys mini mines.
- Ultimate: Jackpot - Pull out Wally's Fuse Rocket Launcher to drop ammo that surrounds the target in a ring of fire.
New Weapon: Repeating Rifle 30-30
We didn't have new weapons in season 7, but we're in season 8. Fuze brings a 30-30 repeating rifle straight from Salvo. This is a powerful lever action rifle.
Canyon Map Changes-Kings
Fuse's arrival wiped out Kings Canyon. The original landmarks, including Slum Lakes and the Artillery, have been destroyed, and the map has taken on a new hue.
New Battle Pass Season 8: Mayhem
As always, the new season will feature a fresh Battle Pass that will include over 100 items.
We don't know if there will be any changes to the Battle Pass system like it was in Season 7.
Changes Legends
These are Legend buffs and nerfs that Respawn says will be coming in Season 8.
Note: This is not a definitive list of all Legends that will be changed in the Season 8 update.
Rampart
- Adding 45 health to her enhanced cover
Wraith
- Respawn say they are looking into changes to Wraith's hitbox to bring her in line with other legends.
Horizon
- Respawn are considering nerfing her tactical abilities, but have yet to confirm the exact changes they are making.
Revenant
- Respawn are struggling to find a good buff for Revenant but are looking into hitbox settings.
Wattson
- Respawn are looking for ways to entertain Watson without making her stronger.
Mirage
- Fix for decoys making footstep sound - This was originally in the Fight Night patch notes, but has been removed and will come in a future update, possibly Season 8.
Caustic
- Caustic hammer breaks doors - This was also originally in the Fight Night patch notes, but has been removed and will appear in a future patch, possibly in Season 8.
New Item: Gold Magazines
- ⋅ Gold clips: automatic reloading of weapons in a holster with a delay of 5,5 seconds.
- ⋅ New hop-up for Sentinel - unknown
Return of goods
Not yet confirmed, but it looks like Anvil Receiver will return in Season 8 .

A new Ranked Series will begin at the start of Season 8: Ranked Series 7. The first split will take place in Kings Canyon and will last until March 23rd. The second split will be on Olympus. In a ranked game there is no end of the world.

- ⋅ RP rewards start from place 13 instead of 10 in a match.
- ⋅ Number of kills/assists increased to 6
- ⋅ Earn RP for more kills and assists in a given match.
- ⋅ This is a small push to give the really good players a slightly faster return to their competitive rank, as well as give our top level players more opportunities to get ahead in the Predator ranks.
- ⋅ Help threshold increased to 10 seconds
- ⋅ Earn Assistance within 10 seconds (up from 7,5 seconds) after damaging a target killed by someone else.
- ⋅ Predator increased to top 750 players
- ⋅ If more players are allowed to enter Predator, the queue time should be reduced, but it should still remain an exclusive level for the highest levels of the game.
- ⋅ Tougher matchmaking
- ⋅ Players below the Diamond level will be more likely to meet within their ranks.
- ⋅ Return of Skydive Trails
- ⋅ In Season XNUMX, Diamond Skydive Trails will return as ranked rewards.
Season 8 Gathering Event
Data miners found files related to Anniversary Gathering Event in Season 8 . While Gathering events usually kick off midway through the season, they could potentially kick off earlier this time around, given Apex Legends' 2-year anniversary falls on February 4 - two days after Season 8 kicked off.
