Weapons in Returnal: Where to Find, Stats, Usage

Returnal weapon guide: all types, alternate shooting and weapon features, as well as how to get it.

Returnal has several basic weapons that you will discover throughout the experience. However, these weapons will have randomized alternate fire modes and features that make a difference. Below we have listed all weapons, their firing range, rate of fire, damage and other characteristics. Below we have marked the starting points of their location, however, due to the complex structure of the procedural generation of locations, they may end up in completely different places ..

All weapons in Returnal

Returnal has 10 basic weapons, each with a different range, rate of fire, and more. Note: we have listed the starting locations where we found them during the game. Due to the random structure of the game, you can find different weapons in different places.

Modified pistol C3-M8 (Modified Sidearm SD-M8)

Modified C3-M8 pistolThe first weapon that Selene finds in the game. After each death, the girl starts a new race with this gun. The player can either fire a single round with the hammer, or hold the trigger for steady but slow sustained fire.First discovered during training: (first landing)

  • Short barrel (Snubnose Barrel);
  • Serrated Projectiles;

Tachyomatic carbine (Tachyomatic Carbine)

Tachyomatic carabiner

It's an alien weapon, but it shoots like an assault rifle. The carbine is fully automatic, so the player can hold the trigger for constant fire at an excellent rate of fire. The most versatile weapon with which you can go through the whole game. It does not require any specific tactics, so we just dodge enemy projectiles and shoot back.First found in Overgrown Ruins.

  • Large caliber (High Caliber);

Womb Belcher (Spitmaw Blaster)

Spitmaw BlasterAnother alien weapon, this weapon looks like a shotgun. It is most effective at close range with a wide spread.First found in Overgrown Ruins.

  • Heavy Bullet (Slug Shot);
  • Rapid Spit (Rapid Spitter);
  • Immense mouth (Wide Maw);
  • Narrow mouth (Narrow Maw);
  • Critical Stagger;
  • Reverse splash (Backsplash);
  • Explosive Spit (Explosive Spit);
  • Acid Clouds.

Hollowseeker

HollowseekerThis is another machine gun type weapon, but it has a much higher rate of fire than the Tachyomatic Carbine.First found in the Crimson Wastes.

  • Split stream (Split Stream);
  • Phase projectiles (Phasing Rounds);
  • Waves (Waves);
  • Serrated Projectiles;
  • Shrapnel (Shrapnel);
  • Portal beam (Portal Beam);
  • New target (Retarget).

Thermostrel (Thermogenic Launcher)

Thermogenic LauncherEssentially a rocket launcher. It launches three rockets at once. Powerful, but slow, and has only three shots before overheating, and then requires cooling.First found in the Ancient Citadel.

  • Obolite Magnet;
  • Tail Fire (Tail Fire);
  • Copying hits (Replicating Hits);
  • Mega-rocket (Mega Rocket);
  • Automatic mode (Full Auto);
  • Critical Rockets.

Rotgland Lobber

Rotgland LobberThis is an alien weapon that shoots drops of acid. The longer you hold the trigger, the farther the shots fly. The acid will continue to damage enemies over time.First found in the Overgrown Ruins after defeating the Ixion boss and obtaining the hook.

  • Bouncing Rot (Bouncing Rot);
  • Hanging rot (Trailing Rot);
  • Durable Rot;
  • Caustic Rot;
  • Enlarged Chamber;
  • Protective rot (Protective Rot);
  • Portal Rot.

Energy barrier (Electropylon Driver)

Energy barrierThis weapon sends out pylons that attach to surfaces or enemies. The energy passes between the pylons, dealing damage within their reach. After a while, the pylons will disappear.First found in Ringing Ruins.

  • Silphium extractor (Silphium Extractor);
  • Obolite Extractor;
  • Blade Harmonizer;
  • Streamlined Chamber;
  • Web of rods (Pylon Web);
  • Enlarged Chamber;
  • Finisher.

Bound by fear (Dreadbound)

Bound by fearA unique gun that shoots multiple shards that return to it like a boomerang. This weapon has no reload capability, but the closer you are to your target, the faster you will be able to shoot.First seen in the Broken Wastes.

  • Return damage (Returning Damage);
  • Expanding Shards;
  • Obolite Magnet;
  • The fourth shard (Fourth Shard).

Pyro Caster (Pyroshell Caster)

Spiral grinderAnother alien weapon is a cannon that fires discs that bounce off enemies and surfaces. This is a loaded weapon - the longer you hold the trigger, the more powerful the shots.First found in Ringing Ruins after obtaining the Delphic Visor.

  • Alternative fire cooling (Alt-Fire Cooling);
  • Enhanced Charge;
  • Negative Discs;
  • Enlarged Chamber;
  • Retargeting;
  • Splitting Discs;
  • Dual discs (Twin Discs);
  • Shattering Discs;
  • Adrenaline Discs.

Atropian Blade

Atropos BladeThe Atropos Blade is one of the permanent items in the game that remain with the heroine after death. This weapon allows you to use a powerful melee strike that easily destroys weak opponents and breaks through the shields of turrets and strong monsters.First found in Overgrown Ruins.

Returnal weapon guide - how to use and where to find all the weapons in the game

All of the above weapons, except for the Atropos Blade, have an alternate fire function. These are powerful unique attacks that charge up over time and can appear in combination with any weapon in the game. Below is a list of all the alternate lights that exist in the game:

  1. Blast Shell - An explosive grenade that activates on impact.
  2. Punisher (Doombringer) - A large energy ball that damages all enemies in its path and explodes on impact. Can be charged by holding the trigger for more damage.
  3. Horizontal barrage (Horizontal Barrage) - a volley of horizontally fired projectiles.
  4. Killsight - A single shot with magnification to deal additional damage to the enemy's weak points.
  5. Non-contact mine (Proximity Mine) - An explosive device that is activated when an enemy approaches.
  6. Shockstream - A continuous stream of electricity that deals massive damage to opponents.
  7. Tentacles (Tendrilpod) An attachable device that explodes and releases tentacles in a small area.
  8. Directed swarm (Trackerswarm) - a volley of insectoids that are automatically directed towards the enemy.
  9. Vertical barrage (Vertical Barrage) - vertical volley of projectiles.
  10. Void Beam - A long, continuous beam that deals good damage that increases over time while keeping the scope on one target.
