What is Phoenix Point?

It is a tactical turn-based strategy game with basic mechanics similar to the X-Com series. Title created by an independent studio Snapshot Games, founded by Julian Gollop, the father of this series. The popular Phoenix Point formula will be enriched with additional political and economic aspects or powerful procedural algorithms that define each game.

Plot of Phoenix Point

The game starts in 2046. A few decades ago, humanity fell victim to an ancient virus that was accidentally discovered in the ice of the Arctic. The survivors group into small enclaves, and every day they fight for life and survival with mutants - monsters constantly adapting to the situation that inhabits the vast majority of the globe. One of these last bastions of humanity - the eponymous Phoenix Point - is under the control of the player during the game.

How does the gameplay in Phoenix Point look like?

As in XCOM, the game is divided into strategic segment and tactical. In the first case, we manage our base - take care of its development and security, manage resources and plan military operations. On the strategic map, we can also look for other settlements, perform the tasks assigned to them, and conduct diplomatic or economic activities. In the tactical phase, we control our units and carry out missions on procedurally generated maps. The combat system is turn-based, and opponents are characterized by high adaptability and great variety - using special algorithms, they are procedurally recreated for each game.
