Pandemic Express - Train, Zombies and Parkour

Picture for the asymmetrical multiplayer FPS PANDEMIC EXPRESS

Quite often there are situations when developers from small studios create a cool game with an interesting idea, but do not bring it to an intelligible form. Today we will talk about just such a game. The authors came up with a great idea, worked out the gameplay mechanics well, but, apparently, they were too hasty to show the project to gamers, because the game is still very raw and needs a lot of improvements and fixes.

Game process

The gameplay of Pandemic Express - Zombie Escape is based on survival, which can be conditionally divided into several stages. At the beginning, you need to land on a virtual battlefield, after which the task is given to get to the evacuation point - this is the location of the very train that should save us. Already at this stage, you may have problems if you think too long or stand still waiting for something. It is better to immediately take transport and move to the evacuation point, so as not to waste time in vain. Of course, there may be enemies on your way, but you should not pay attention to them. Further, after getting on the train, the dispatch and movement along the route begins, where zombies will also attack you. Here you also need to try to survive and get to the very end. Although, as practice shows, it is extremely difficult to achieve a positive result for a number of reasons.

Трудности

Firstly, the developers did not think of a normal learning system and most of the time you will learn about some game subtleties or gameplay features only on the basis of trial and error. This is not very cool, since the game is quite multifaceted and it takes too much time to experiment - I would like to get a normal training. Secondly, the game is extremely raw in terms of transport physics. All vehicles feel the same and do not cause any emotions, the car seems to be floating on oil, and not driving on asphalt. Naturally, this negatively affects both your gameplay experience and survival subtlety. Thirdly, there are a lot of bugs. That's right too. The developers have made a good preparation, but it doesn’t pull even approximately to the title of a full-fledged game - there are a lot of problem areas and all the authors will fix it for an extremely long time.

Atmosphere

I liked the gameplay picture, sound and overall emotions from this survival. You are constantly in a hurry somewhere and worry, so as not to lose time in vain, you constantly look around and look around to see the approaching enemy. The game constantly keeps the player in suspense and does not give you the opportunity to relax even for a moment. There is simply no location where you would feel safe, which also introduces a certain touch of fear. In this regard, the developers managed to do everything as worthy and high-quality as possible. It’s a pity that you won’t be able to leave on one atmosphere - all this beauty breaks when you just start to peer into the details.

Сonclusion

Pandemic Express - Zombie Escape is a prime example of a chic idea that has so far been implemented not even a C grade. The number of bugs is simply prohibitive, the picture constantly twitches and FPS drops for no apparent reason, plus it is almost impossible to find a session during the day. From all this, we can conclude that the developers were in a hurry to roll out the release in early access in order to sell as many copies as possible and then think about whether to develop the project or not. Even in the main menu there are a lot of elements that are simply closed with a lock - they simply have not been created yet. Is it worth spending your money on this project? Only if you believe in his success.
