Valorant
Valorant is a tactical multiplayer team-based first-person shooter developed by Riot Games, the creators of League of Legends, with a focus on esports. The game resembles a mix of CS:GO (gameplay and map design), Team Fortress (visual style), Overwatch (unique characters, active use of abilities) and the studio's own solutions.

Valorant 4.03 Patch: Brimstone Buffs, Deathmatch Spawn Changes, Weapon Updates

Valorant 4.03 is out now, and with it comes a lot of changes to Brimstone's ultimate, deathmatch spawn location and timers, as well as some new weapon features.

While Riot Games kicked off Valorant Episode 4 with a bang, subsequent patches have been relatively subtle and entirely focused on gameplay.

Patch 4.03 follows the same pattern, focusing on improving some aspects of the deathmatch mode, as well as Brimstone, a few buffs to his iconic ultimate.

So, here's a rundown of everything that's coming in Valorant Patch 4.03.

Brimstone's Orbital Strike received a few changes in this patch.

Deathmatch Changes

Death timers have been reduced from 3s to 2,5s, and new systems ensure you spawn farther away from where you were killed. They will also check to see if you are showing up in "dangerous" positions that will most likely result in you getting an immediate headshot.

Also, improvements have been implemented so that you will respawn face to face with enemies instead of getting shot in the back.

Patch Notes 4.03 Valorant

Below are the patch notes for Valorant 4.03, courtesy of Riot Games:

AGENT UPDATES

Brimstone

  • Brimstone's ultimate now correctly blocks gameplay visibility while active.
  • You will no longer see enemies on the minimap through your ultimate.
  • Abilities that require line of sight (flares, Sova recon pulses) will no longer be cast through the ult.

MODE UPDATES

Deadly combat

  • Removed and in some cases relocated "dangerous" spawn locations.
  • Improved the respawn logic and respawn placement to make it more likely that you will run into each other in combat.
  • Respawn logic will now favor respawn locations further away from where you are defeated.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the respawn logic to be used incorrectly during the warm up phase.
  • Respawn time reduced: 3s >>> 1,5s

SOCIAL UPDATES

  • Updated in-game AFK detection to deter players from using game modes to gain experience.

PERFORMANCE UPDATES

Global invalidation

  • Global Invalidation provides up to 15% base performance improvement for CPU bound players.
  • CPU bound players tend to be medium to high spec machines.
  • These figures are based on data collected by PBE over two weekends (January 22–23 and February 5–6).
  • While Riot expects the majority of gamers to benefit from these benefits, your machine's performance may vary.

COSMETIC UPDATES

  • Updated the color of the tiles used to display sprays in your collections.
  • Some sprays were too close to the color of the original tile and were difficult to see properly before being used in the game.

GAME SYSTEM UPDATES

  • Added the ability to return to the most powerful weapon
  • You can now switch back to the strongest weapon by pressing the "Equip Last Used Item" key or when automatically equipping a weapon.
  • To turn it on, go to Settings >> Controls >> Equipment under the Most Powerful Weapon Priority section.

FEATURES OF ESPORTS

  • Projectile tracking is now fixed for spectator followers.
  • Added an observer settings switch to enable/disable the agent's portrait.

ERRORS

Agents

  • Fixed an issue where Chamber's Bounty Hunter and Tour de Force could float away.
  • Fixed an exploit that allowed certain compounds to look inside Viper's ultimate ability without being affected by the myopia debuff.
  • Fixed an issue where the Viper's ultimate would sometimes fail to pass through doorways.

The social

  • Fixed an issue where pressing Enter before playing would not bring the chat focus.
  • Fixed an issue where right-clicking a player's portrait would not bring up the context menu.

Performance

  • Fixed an issue where performance stats were hidden when spectating Spike.

KNOWN ISSUES

eSports Features

  • Short flash when switching to free camera mode as a remote observer.
