Path of Exile Surprises Blizzard and Diablo During Mobile Announcement
The developers of Path of Exile took advantage of Blizzard's ill-fated Diablo Immortal announcement of 2018 by announcing their own mobile version at ExileCon.
Diablo Immortal's announcement will probably forever be remembered by fans for its failure at BlizzCon 2018.
At Exilecoin 2019 on November 15, Path of Exile developers at Grinding Gear Games joked that the controversy surrounding Blizzard's announcement caused them to delay the mobile announcement from 2018.
Studio founder Chris Wilson (Chris Wilson) said that the game has advantages over Blizzard's game. First of all, it is balanced content. Recall that Path Of Exile 2 went the way Overwatch 2 and essentially represents a new storyline for the first part.
It seemed like it was a lot better than Diablo Immortal's announcement, but Wilson also said that the game is currently "experimental" and development will continue based on fan feedback.
Grinding Gears has stated that they want to stay away from the current trends in F2P (free-to-play) mobile games like microtransactions etc, bringing the true version of Path of Exile to mobile.
Path of Exile 2 surprises players with new campaign
The other big news from ExileCon in 2019 was the announcement of Path of Exile 2 - a new campaign with new classes, challenges and features for players to dive into.
Armor, weapons, character models, and animations have also been completely redone, but all previous microtransaction purchases will still carry over from PoE 1.
There is no release date for PoE 2 yet, but Grinding Gear has said that they do not intend to start beta until the very end of 2020. At the same time, they will continue to release regular expansions every six months.
