Polish masters of computer graphics from Platige Image presented their latest film. The defect, which lasts less than four minutes, is a demonstration of the capabilities of their own Virtual Production technology.
Platyge Image is a team that probably needs no introduction. But just in case... yes, those are from The Witcher, Polish Allegro Legends and Żubr videos. What is virtual production?
Virtual manufacturing is "a tool that not only changes the approach to filmmaking, but also opens up new creative possibilities", says Armin Kuras, director of Defect. — Today in the studio in Warsaw, we can quickly create a film that previously required lengthy events . » How is this possible?
The secret lies in the use of a high quality LED wall, which in turn displays the background in real time and is synchronized with the "touch" camera. Thanks to this, the perspective is constantly maintained, and the impression of depth is very realistic.
“Working in virtual scenography is unlimited freedom, incl. when it comes to integrating lighting, colors, time of day, or moving buildings into a frame, says Michal Dubal, the operator listed on the payroll. " The possibilities are almost endless."
What is extremely important about this technology is that film production is actually exactly the same as when using a classic green screen. But at the same time, almost the final effect is visible on the set. With Defect, the photos lasted only 1 day and did not require long post-production. Of course, this requires more intensive work before starting recording.
