Why Fnatic and Mousesports Are Not Invited to Premier Spring Series 2020

Tournament organizer BLAST shared his thoughts on CSGO events and revealed why some of the top teams are missing from the upcoming Premier Spring Series 2020 event.

BLAST is the newest event organizer in CSGO and has hosted most of its events in 2019, aiming to bring fresh tournaments featuring the best teams.

However, they were criticized by the community due to their event formats, which mostly featured the best of the best matches. Because of this, many fans and players considered the BLAST Pro Series events to be unimportant and less competitive.

In an attempt to shake things up, the organizers announced a brand new format called "BLAST Premier". This format acts like a league, with 12 teams competing against each other over two seasons, with the best of them qualified for the global finals at the end of the year.

The first season of Spring begins in London with 12 team LAN events, in which the top six teams will advance to the season finals, while the rest will play in showdown matches. Only two teams will advance out of the “showdown” stage and play in the season's eight-team Grand Prix Final.

With only 12 teams invited, it was obvious that some fan favorites would miss it, however, few would have expected Fnatic and Mousesports not to be at the event.

BLAST Product Director Nicholas Estrup shed some light on the situation in an interview with HLTV. “We can't just rely on lineups at the moment…the organizers behind the teams have a lot of weight and in some cases their decision is key and therefore not so simple.”

He then went on to talk about the aforementioned teams in particular about not taking BLAST tournaments seriously.

The key moment seems to have been the words of Fnatic's Jesper "JW" Veksel, who devalued the tournament and its format. Of course, this is just a guess, there are simply no other explanations for the refusal to take part in the Premier 2020 series of tournaments. According to Guillaume "in the» Canelo, the organizers also rejected the request sent by the Fnatic club itself.

The reasons why the Mausas fly over Blast have not yet been established. We'll let you know as soon as the situation clears up.
