Apex Legends Update 1.1.3 Full Details

If you're wondering what's changed with Respawn's popular Battle Royale update, which introduces some of the biggest improvements since the release of Apex Legends, then you've come to the right place!

Hello! The release of the next update is scheduled for early next week. As soon as it can be downloaded on all platforms, we will mention it again in a separate article on the site. In the meantime, you can read the description of the update and some comments from the developers. 

SOUND IMPROVEMENTS AND BUG FIXES

One of the biggest issues lately has been audio issues that players have reported to us: occasional missing sounds, their disappearance for a long time, and short-term distortion. We've made a number of improvements to both the game's code and content, which should completely resolve this issue for many players and reduce the frequency and duration of audio bugs for everyone else.

We've also fixed some audio mixing bugs. In particular, we increased the volume of the footsteps of enemies near the player and reduced the overall volume of the game from the moment you select a character until the end of the drop. We will continue to monitor these mixing issues and take appropriate action. Below are all the changes that were made to the game as part of today's update, while we continue to work on other improvements.

PERFORMANCE

• The sound engine has been improved, allowing it to use approximately 30% more processor power and reduce the likelihood of audio disappearing or distorting.
• Improved the data loading process through changes to the code and content of the game, which will help prevent audio dropouts.

CONVENIENCE OF THE GAME PROCESS

• Reduced the volume of all sounds between the character selection screen and the end of the landing.
• Reduced the volume of Wraith's kunai background sounds so as not to disturb players who are sensitive to such sounds. If these sounds continue to be a nuisance, we will remove them in a future update.
• Increased the volume of enemy footsteps near the player for all legends.
• Increased the priority of enemy footstep sounds so that they can be heard even in the heat of battle.
• Slightly reduced the volume of Pathfinder's footsteps when playing as him.
• Fixed disappearance or fading of sounds that are heard when trying to dry fire (without cartridges) and when firing with a low ammo magazine for the R-301, Hemlock, Flatline and RE-45.
• Increased the volume of the music that plays when you win a match.
• The soundtrack of the training mission has become more detailed.

ERROR CORRECTION

• Fixed a bug with the sound of completing the firing of the "Chaos" disappearing.
• Fixed a bug due to which the sounds of automatic fire sometimes looped, which most often happened after the rebirth of the legend.
• Fixed a bug due to which the echo from firing from the RE-45 was not played at close range.

IMPROVEMENTS AND BUG FIXES WITH HIT DETECTION

As we mentioned last week, in this update we've included a number of changes that should address many of the causes of incorrect hit detection. In addition, now we can track the logic of bullet damage. We acknowledge that there may still be issues with hit detection in the game, but with this change and new features, it will be much easier for us to find the source of them.

One possible cause of hit issues could be problems with your Internet connection. To better understand the impact of an internet connection on gameplay, we've improved the connection problem indicators that light up in the upper right corner of the screen. These indicators have become more sensitive, so they may appear more often than before.

This way we can narrow down the range of possible causes of issues that players are experiencing. Please continue to share videos and reports of hit issues with us if you encounter them again after the release of the update.

FIX BUG WITH TONUS LIFELINE BANNER ON PS4

• This issue has been resolved, so after the release of the update, we will re-open access to this banner.
  • NOTE. We've made changes to the game client and server to fix the issue, but it will take some time before these changes take effect. We expect the bug to be fixed within a few hours after the release of the update. 

PC ONLY: INTEL PROCESSOR FAULTS

We've looked into crash reports from many players who have experienced these issues on a regular basis. It turned out that Intel processors were not correctly executing some commands related to a certain function. For example, it was common to encounter a situation where an instruction that read a register caused a crash while writing to invalid memory. Thanks to the help of many forum users, we found that reducing the clock speed immediately solved the problem even in cases where the processor was not "overclocked" and did not overheat. The vast majority of PC crashes reported by players over the past month have been related to this. We have alerted Intel to this issue. For now, we've implemented a workaround - just changed the instruction set used by this feature - that will allow you to avoid crashes at normal clock speeds.

OTHER BUGS FIXED

• Fixed an issue with the Fortified Armor passive that caused Caustic and Gibraltar to take damage through their shields.
• Fixed an issue that allowed players to attach objects to the Gibraltar Gun Shield.
  • Admittedly, it was quite fun to watch such situations, but this game mechanic was not intended by the design of the game and therefore can get out of control. Items can no longer be attached to the Gibraltar Armor Shield. When doing this, the weapon shield will now reflect arc stars.
