The Complete Guide to Rage 2. Story, Reputation, Abilities, and more.

2 Rage

Analysis of the main game mechanics, leveling up the character, unlocking abilities and much more

Rage 2 is a crazy first-person shooter set in a post-apocalyptic setting. This is a direct continuation of the original game, although the events take place several decades later. On the other hand, you will meet many familiar surnames. And even though only Dr. Kvasir and Marshall remained here from the NPCs of the first game, instead of the rest of the heroes there will be their children. Avoiding many spoilers, let's look at the main mechanics and systems of the game.

World map and fast travel

Guide to Rage 2-1

Rage 2 has a large open world, which is divided into 6 main regions. In each region, you can find one city. After visiting it, it becomes available as a fast travel point. Traveling in this way is only possible between cities. No other objects, even cleared Arks, are supported in the system. Moreover, the ruined Vinland from the Twisted Canyons, the first region, is also not used in the fast travel system.

The remaining regions and their capitals are:

  1. Destroyed road and Trunk.
  2. Ragged Plains and Source.
  3. Swamp Secreto and Laguna.
  4. Dune Sea and Oasis.
  5. Wildlands and Dreadwood.

Game plot

Unlike the original game, there are much fewer story missions in Rage 2. The main quest becomes available literally after the prologue and remains the main one until the end of the game. We are talking about the project "Dagger". But in order to implement this project, you must, firstly, find three leaders (Marshall, Luzam Hagar and Anton Kvasir) in the Trunk, Source and on the territory of the Secret Swamp region, complete their first tasks, and then pump each level of trust to the fifth . After that, 3 more tasks will become available - one for each. As soon as you complete them, it will be possible to go to a meeting with the Government in the person of General Cross. Yes, and that's it.

However, there are a lot of side actions in the game, each of which is aimed at boosting the reputation of a particular character.

Reputation, project points and side effects

As mentioned above, you will have to upgrade Kvasir, Marshall and Hagar's trust level to five in order to receive new story missions from them. On the other hand, for each level in any of them you will receive 3 project point.

Initially, “question marks” are visible on the map, and then those that are located near the places you have previously visited. In cities, you can see many characters with a "dialogue" icon above their heads. Communicate with them so that markers of specific objects appear on the map. These characters present this information as side quests, but they are not missions.

To upgrade your reputation with Marshall, you must complete the following tasks:

  1. Mutant Nest. It is necessary to clear a certain location from the specified number of nests that constantly generate mutants. Shoot at large nests with any weapon. Hold down CTRL to find these nests easier (they are visible in the "Concentration" mode). Mutants will disappear as soon as you destroy the last nest.
  2. Electroforge. There are not many such tasks. You need to activate the reactor and then destroy it. Use concentration to rip off protective plates with purple symbols, and then shoot glowing blue batteries.
  3. bandit lair. You need to kill all the enemies on the territory of the enemy base.
  4. Crusher Nest. You need to get to the main mutant hall and fight a huge boss.
Guide to Rage 2-3

All of them will be marked on the map with different markers. in a purple shell!

To upgrade your reputation with Hagar, you must do the following:

  1. Pit stop. Here you will have to destroy fuel tanks. They all look the same and are colored red. If at first the tanks are located outside and are easy to spot, then in the future do not forget to look up. Sometimes the cistern can hang from a crane, from the ceiling, or be hidden in the basement.
  2. road barrier. Kill all the enemies, go upstairs and turn the purple valve to raise the barrier. Later, there may be two of these barriers, so look for a valve on the other side of the barrier.
  3. Charging station. You need to activate one, two or three supports, and then kill the enemies. Enemies do not attack the pillars themselves, but if they stand close to them, the pillars are not destroyed. That is, the process of destruction (reducing the strength scale) proceeds gradually, when there are no enemies near the support.
  4. Column. Several road columns move across the territory of the game world. You need to destroy the main machine. To do this, wait for the moment and shoot at the opening, vulnerable parts.
  5. Government Watchtower. Shoot at the blue batteries under the turret gun.

All these tasks are marked on the map with different markers. в yellow shell.

Finally, to increase Kvasir's trust, do the following:

  1. Ark. Study the Arks. Kill all enemies nearby so that the Ark can be opened. Inside will be a weapon or a new ability.
  2. Rangers Voices. Find the corpses of rangers in the specified area and study them using concentration.
  3. meteorite with feltrite. These are random and repeatable events. On the map, you will see a "meteorite" marker in a blue shell. Follow him, kill the opponents and collect the feltrite from the stones by holding CTRL.
  4. Destruction of spy drones. There are drones in almost every third location. They hang on buildings, under the roof. In the future, you can unlock a skill that allows you to track these creatures.

All tasks are marked with different markers in a blue shell.

Abilities

Guide to Rage 2-4

The main character can unlock several abilities that are unlocked by visiting certain Arks. Some of them are immediately visible on the map, while others are well hidden from your eyes. In a separate guide, we will analyze how to open all the Arks.

The main abilities of the character are:

  1. Healthy body. Available by default. This skill determines how well you take damage.
  2. Concentration. Available by default. Concentration is used to collect feltrite, search for opponents and important objects (however, chests, datapads and containers are not highlighted), repair a car.
  3. fast and furious. Available by default. When you kill enemies, you accumulate a boost counter, which can then be activated. The character becomes almost invulnerable, deals increased damage and restores health points.
  4. Jerk. Unlocked after the prologue of the game. allows you to quickly move to the side, dodging enemy attacks. Especially useful in the fight against large monsters.
  5. top blow. The character jumps and slams his hand on the ground, killing or damaging nearby enemies.
  6. Toss-Up. Allows you to pounce on the enemy by hitting him.
  7. Graviton. Allows you to double jump and linger in the air.
  8. Defibrillation. Upon death, allows you to use charges to revive with a certain amount of health points.
  9. Barrier. Allows you to create a transparent barrier and hide from enemy projectiles.
  10. Sprint. Allows you to temporarily accelerate (faster than when running while holding SHIFT).
  11. The Circuit. Create a black hole that will attract opponents. You can use it to fly into the air.

There are separate skill trees for each ability. They reinforce the skill and are divided into several levels. To be able to unlock all of the ability's bonuses, you must pump it to the maximum level for feltrite. One ability can have three levels, another can have five. To unlock bonuses, you spend nanorites, which are bought from merchants, found in Ark chests, issued for completing quests and side actions.

Weapons in the game

Guide to Rage 2-5

At the beginning of the game, two weapons will be available to you - the Sidewinder Pistol and the Ranger Assault Rifle. All other weapons can be found either in the Arks or in secret places.

Each weapon has five levels of pumping. All of them are unlocked for Feltrite, as is the case with abilities. By itself, an unlocked level will not give you anything, but it will give you access to one or two upgrades. You can only select one upgrade per level. To unlock it, weapon mods are consumed. They are mined similarly to nanotrite.

In a separate guide, we will tell you where to find each weapon and what upgrades can be installed on it.

Equipment

Guide to Rage 2-6

On this tab, you can find various character consumables:

  • grenades;
  • health charges;
  • wings;
  • charges of "Fast and the Furious";
  • concentration charges;
  • ability charges;
  • turret drone;
  • materials.

Materials include several types of items that are needed to craft all of the above. In order to increase the level of consumables, you must buy special items from merchants, which are called “health charges / concentration upgrades”, etc.

Projects

Guide to Rage 2-7

Projects are the second type of abilities that can be either passive or active. There are four categories of projects. The first, "Basic Projects", is available from the very beginning of the game. All the rest will be unlocked after you complete one task each for Kvasir, Hagar and Marshall. That is, access to them is strictly according to the plot of the game.

Projects within a particular category are divided into four levels. Projects of the first level are worth one point, the second - two, the third - three, the fourth - four.

Transport

Guide to Rage 2-8

Your first vehicle is the Phoenix SUV. This is the only car that can be upgraded for auto parts. All other cars and motorcycles found by you have the maximum possible equipment.

Auto parts can be bought from merchants, found in Ark chests, or obtained by destroying pillars. To unlock a new vehicle, find it in the Wasteland, get behind the wheel and take it to the nearest city. After that, the car will be in your garage. Open the "Transport" tab to request a particular car. In doing so, money will be spent.

Passage of locations

Almost every location associated with a particular side effect has collectibles. We are talking about datapads, containers and chests of the Arks. Searching for them manually is more expensive. More precisely, you, of course. You can find most of them, but to complete the location, you should find all of them. And it will be easier to do this after you get access to Kvasir's projects, in which you can find especially useful skills: the compass will indicate the direction in which all these items are located. There are also abilities that show Feltrite Ore and Spy Drones, but they will only confuse you, so we do not recommend unlocking them.

Datapads increase Kvasir's trust level. Inside the containers you can find dollars or feltrite, and the chests of the Arks contain more valuable components - project points, nanotrite, weapon mods, auto parts, etc.

cyberdoctor

Guide to Rage 2-9

In the Source, you can find a Cyberdoctor's shop, which can increase the Fast and the Furious, increase the supply of health points or weapon damage. In addition, you can reset all previously purchased ability bonuses from him by returning nanotrite and spending them again. The service is inexpensive - $500.
