Full Analysis of Marvel's Latest Eternals Trailer

Little House on the Prairie

New shots of "The Eternals"» begins with Salma Hayek's "Ajak" riding a horse through a barren plain - a continuation of the previous scene from the first trailer. However, this time we see Ajak heading to meet Ikaris. As the leader of the Eternals, Ajak seems to have come to the conclusion that a huge threat is coming and seeks to unite her people against her, starting with the character of Richard Madden. Either she is visiting Ikaris at his remote home, or it is Ajak's property and she has summoned Ikaris to her. Either way, this is where the main story begins.

Awakening Begins

Apparently, appearance. Ajak acknowledges how the Earth's Avengers saved the universe from Thanos (while her Eternals sat around doing nothing - more on that later), but she also explains that Hulk's one snap of the Infinity Gauntlet's fingers had an unintended side effect. In addition to bringing Thanos' victims back to life, the second snap "provided the necessary energy to start the Awakening". It's not known exactly what Awakening is right now, but popular theories include a Deviant invasion, the return of the Celestials, or even a clash of different Marvel Universes. Whatever the result, it will not be beautiful.

Apocalypse Now

In a clear demonstration of just how bad Awakening can be, this Eternals trailer depicts land and sea merging in the wake of a cataclysmic earthquake. It's unclear if this is currently taking place in the MCU or is part of a historical sequence, but some believe these images represent the fall of the MCU's Atlantis back in time, thus giving the impression of an arrival. Namor the Submariner in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Whatever happens, the destruction is another stunning example of Zhao's visuals.

Seven days

Ajakk gives a time frame for the events of the Eternals - only seven days. This tight window should mean a quiet, action-packed contemporary tale in which the Eternals have just one week to gather their members and fend off any threat the Awakening poses.

Communication with the Celestials

In the scene, which likely takes place aboard the Eternals' triangular black spaceship, the crew communicates around a statue of a Celestial, and a golden blob falls on Ajak's neck. While this gathering may represent some sort of activation ceremony, the Eternals are most likely trying to communicate with their Celestial creators. Perhaps to file a complaint about the coming Awakening or ask for help from their overlords.

Arrival of the Eternals

First trailer for Marvel's The Eternals» showed how the alien ship of the titular group lands, leaving the primitive earthlings of the past in deep confusion. The new footage includes a stunning shot of the same craft flying past our Sun, possibly entering Earth's solar system for the first time. Since the relative scale of the ship and the sun is slightly (very) different, there is a possibility that the flyby could occur elsewhere in space.

Eternals... Gathering!

In addition to the arrival of the Eternals, an alien quintet line up on top of a hill while one of the locals (the same village boy from the first trailer) looks on in amazement. Not the only time during the next 2 minutes, Ikaris is presented in the light of a powerful god from another world, similar to Superman, slowly descending to earth.

deviants

Finally the Deviants are here. In Marvel comics, the Deviants are another Celestial being and in almost every way the opposite of the god-like Eternals. Many assumed that the Deviants would be the villains in the MCU movie, and the latest trailer confirms that, giving a thrilling first look at these monstrous villains. Real-time deviants bear little resemblance to their comic counterparts, who were mutated humanoids rather than animals, but the creatures are impressive nonetheless. As the name suggests, different Deviants have different mutations - some with wings, some with tails, some with fangs, etc.

Forces of Ikaris

When the winged Deviant emerges from the ocean, Ikaris displays his formidable power by floating in the air and shooting a stream of golden eye energy directly at the creature. This is more than a nod to Superman as Ikaris heroically destroys his opponent and then rushes into the sky. Judging from the surroundings of the beach, this fight scene takes place when the Eternals first land on Earth, and not in the modern timeline. Although Ajak is their chief leader, Ikaris appears to be the practical general of the Eternals, as well as one of their strongest fighters.

The Black Knight Knows Nothing

Moving on to the real MCU, the final Eternals trailer gives a closer look at Dane Kit Harington, aka the Black Knight. He kindly took Gemma Chan's Sersi to the local laundromat - the perfect place to ask why her race of all-powerful aliens didn't bother to help the Avengers fight Thanos or prevent so many wars throughout human history. Sersi appears dejected at her people's negligence, and we know the Eternals are creating a love triangle between her, the Black Knight, and Ikaris. Harington's question also confirms that choosing whether to fulfill their oath or protect humanity will be a constant dilemma for the Eternals.

Forever Helpless

Another episode of the story shows a soldier on horseback attacking civilians, and it's taken from the first Eternals trailer., released earlier this year. An unseen shot then reveals a mysterious figure, shrouded in darkness and turned away from the camera, watching the fiery chaos unfold below. While their identity is not clear (most likely Kumail Nanjiani Kingo or Ikaris), this depiction shows the Eternal powerless to stop human conflict, demonstrating his oath of non-intervention in the most brutal way possible.

Heavenly

As Sersi confirms to the Black Knight that the Eternals are not allowed to interfere with human history by their creators, the Celestials, the trailer goes into full epic mode, showing the giant Celestial in all its glory looming over Sersi menacingly. There is a visual resemblance to Aeson the Seeker, but this entity is more likely Arish the Judge - the red leader of the Celestials, whose design was redesigned from the comics.

Sersi's encounter with Arishem could be related to an earlier trailer shot of the Eternals conversing around the Celestial Statue on their ship.

Find Others

Faced with the sudden appearance of the Awakening, Ikaris confirms the Eternals' mission - at least for the first half of their solo movie. The hero of Richard Madden is called upon to unite his fellow aliens, who have diverged many years ago. Can they put aside personal differences to protect what each of them loves? Who he is talking to in this scene is not clear, but since it is not a prairie house, Sersi is the most likely candidate, as she is present next to Ikaris in every subsequent scene.

Sprite Dagger

First on Ikaris' list (at least in the trailer) is Druig (played by Barry Keoghan), who is in command of the forest cult when the Eternals arrive to enlist the help of the mind controller. This frame was included in the previous trailer Eternal , but Druig is soon followed by Leah McHugh's Sprite, whose main ability is to create illusions. In the frame, she draws a dagger. Since she definitely doesn't need it, the blade is probably symbolic.

Then

Previous footage of the trailer offered a taste of Angelina Jolie's powers as Ten, with her ability to build energy weapons proving to be very useful indeed. She is the fifth recruit after Ikaris, Sersi, Sprite, Kingo, and Gilgamesh Don Lee, but does not react well to the family reunion, hitting Gilgamesh with an energy spear while Kingo waves awkwardly in the background. Aside from Thena being annoyed by the sight of her fellow Eternals, the biggest takeaway from this scene is Gilgamesh. Effortlessly blocking Thena's attack with one hand demonstrates his immense strength even among the Eternals, and it's also interesting that Gilgamesh approaches Thena while Ikaris retreats, teasing the special relationship between Don Lee and Angelina Jolie's characters.

Sprite in front

After another shot of the Awakening's impending destruction (this time of a crackling volcano), Sprite comments on his front-row seat for the rest of the world, showing off the young character's brilliant wit. Sprite then materializes with the other Eternals in the desert, all looking super cool in their matching sunglasses. Their materialization may be an extension of Sprite's illusionary powers - using visual tricks to make himself and others invisible.

Druig and Makkari

Even though the end of the world is very, very close, the MCU still finds time for jokes, as Brian Tyree Henry's Fastos informs one of his Eternal relatives that sarcasm "never saved the world." It's a matter of opinion, but in this scene, Druig is also shown alongside Makkari Lauren Ridloff, whose main power is super speed. The pair are clearly close, further proof that the Eternals have connections and cabals even within their own ranks.

Ship Lift

Following the aforementioned sunglasses scene, Fastos leads the Eternals to a location where a handheld device picks up the black spaceship everyone arrived in. This moment seems to come after Ikaris gathers most of the team. Do they raise the ship from the sandy hideout to use the Skylink statue inside?

Camden Attack And Sersi Force

This picture  it seems, shows Dane Whitman defending London's Camden Lock from attack, but if you look closely, there's more to it than meets the eye. The crowd consists of many clones of Sersi and Sprites among the fleeing bystanders, suggesting that the latter's illusion powers are at play. Sersi then blows up an oncoming bus, turning it into a hail of petals, much to the relief of Leah McHugh and Kit Harington's characters. It's not clear who's leading the assault (could Deviant drop the bus?), but Sprite's clones could help clear the area of ​​civilians. Sersi turning a double-decker bus into rose petals demonstrates her ability to manipulate matter.

Ship of Light

In a series of stunning visuals of Gemma's Sersi, Chan walks through a fantasy cave corridor. In the first room, a wall of intertwined triangles leads to a door, inside which she finds a strange plant that emits a bright light. Her touch causes light to quickly spread across the wall. The triangular motif suggests that these frames may have been set inside the Eternals' ship. If so, this glowing tree proves that the Eternals' technology is partially biological in nature - and if they shared this technology with humanity, there would be no global warming.

Eruption

 To complement the previous shot of an erupting volcano from afar (as Sprite was watching), the Eternals trailer shows a close-up of an erupting mountain, foreshadowing the doom of our humble planet. Like early scenes of the apocalypse, the eruption could have happened either in the past, either in present and may, again, depict the fall of Atlantis in the MCU.

Kingo's powers

Returning to the previous battle between the Eternals and Deviants on the beach, it's time for Kingo to shine. Kumail Nanjiani's character locks and loads two handfuls of energy and fires them at a monstrous Deviant with a giant tail and massive double fangs, knocking the creature down instantly. Kingo's main power is the release of energy. The finger gun is supposedly optional.

Green Heavenly

The second Celestial featured in the new Eternals trailer, green in color and wears smoother armor compared to the red giant from the earlier period. This emerald figure could be Jemiya the Analyzer, who, despite having two eyes and a Kang-like helmet in the comics, is always green among the Marvel Celestials. This particular scene appears to be part of the explanation for the Eternals themselves, as Jemaya's image is created using the same golden energy that appears whenever one of the team members uses their powers.

Thena Fights the Deviant

We've seen plenty of Thena's powers, but so far only when Angelina Jolie poses. Finally, she puts her energy weapon to good use by slicing through a Deviant Creature that we can't get a good look at here. Part of the same battle on the beach, the beast spews green blood when Thena's blade comes into contact with it.

Gilgamesh In Action

Immediately after Thena, Dona Lee's Gilgamesh takes center stage, slamming Deviant with both fists. Unlike Thena, who uses her energy abilities to create weapons, Gilgamesh's Eternal Gifts add a spice to the sauce of his melee strikes. This can also be seen when Lee's character blocks Thena earlier in the trailer and solidifies his status as one of the film's strongest characters.

Makkari speed

Although the new trailer for The Eternals» much more generous with the reveal, little is known about Makkari Lauren Ridloff. However, in the blink of an eye amidst the action scenes, Makkari can be seen at super-fast speeds that cover vast distances in a single jump. A fleeting image gives a glimpse of super-high-speed visuals Eternal , which are quite different from the quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron, which has been reduced to a blur. When Makkari moves, the scenery seems to move with her, creating an effect unlike any other superhero movie speedster.

Ikaris Loses Control

Jumping back to the very beginning of the trailer, Ikaris loses control of his eye lasers. The house in the background is the same place where Richard Madden's character previously spoke to Ajak, meaning that something during the opening of the Eternals sends Ikaris out of control. Does it infuriate him when he learns about the Awakening? Or are the Eternals losing control of their powers due to a side effect of the phenomenon?

Villain - Cro?

Based on the 2 minutes and 21 seconds of footage that precedes it, it's pretty clear that the Eternals are incredibly powerful - even when compared to current MCU protagonists. So when the mysterious villains bind Thena with creepy tentacles on her back and say that she " can't protect any of them the villain in question is clearly a threat beyond the level of the Avengers. Thena's eyes also glazed over, possibly incapacitated by this new enemy. As for the name, the latest MCU villain is most likely Kro, the evil leader of the Deviants in Marvel comics. In the comic, Kro has more traits of an Eternal than his fellow Deviants, which explains why the live-action character appears humanoid while his subjects appear to be animals. The original character also has a romantic connection with Thena.

Ikaris vs Deviants

В  Eternal The trailer ends on a series of impressive fight scenes between Ikaris and Deviants. The fight begins in the air as the flying Eternals knock down opponents with well-aimed eye blasts. The action then switches to the wooded area where Druig's cult lives, showing the Deviant pinning Richard Madden to the floor. Early reactions shang chi praised some of the MCU's best action sequences. Eternal have something to say about this...

Ikaris vs Ikea

Ikaris' greatest battle is not against the Deviants attacking Earth, but against self-assembly furniture. First trailer Eternals ended with a joke in which the group laughed at Ikaris for putting himself forward as a potential new leader of the Avengers. The second trailer also features a parting joke about him when Ikaris smashes Fastos' table, mistaking it for vibranium. If they can't stop the Awakening, destroyed Ikea furniture will be the least of his problems. tonally Eternal adopts the usual MCU humor despite the apocalyptic themes.
