Now you can play STALKER 2

Mod on the XRay engine X-Ray engine, which was faced with the task of returning the same STALKER 2 of 2011, already makes it possible to play the canceled game.

In 2020, a group of fans of the original OldConcept game set out to create a global mod that would recreate the STALKER 2 that never made it to the consumer. Among the authors were Dezodor and Loxotron, the creators of the popular Lost Alpha mod, so you can be calm about the quality. According to the developers, the activity was carried out with the tacit approval of GSC Game World, and even Grigorovich himself can be found among friends in the social networks of modders. However, how they got everything they needed for development is unknown - and it doesn’t matter, because the main thing for us is the result!

In general, the build for the above mentioned mod was leaked to the network. Anonymous on the fan forum posted working files and concept art, and after half an hour in the community "Messenger of "The Same Stalker"" there was a patch to the build and new materials.

Since two versions of the build were merged in different sources, we have two STALKER 2 scenarios. The hero of the first is an unnamed former stalker who is tormented by mysterious nightmares. To deal with them, he goes to the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and finds himself embroiled in events that will one day decide the fate of not only the Exclusion Zone, but the whole world. During the adventure, he will not only meet with the Strelok, but will also find the death of the main character of the original.

Other familiar characters would be the Doctor and Professor Sakharov. Together, they would have stood up to the researchers from the Research Institute of ChAZ, who are trying to take control of the anomalies. An important role in the plot would be played by a powerful installation capable of creating artifacts and controlling the Zone. In the end, with its help, the heroes could destroy the Zone, become its masters, or ... spread it to the whole world.

What's in the build?

If you expected to download the build and go through the same STALKER 2, then not so. The current version only allows you to become an observer who can explore locations, but will not take part in the story.

There are quite a few .cmd files in the root folder, each of which launches certain test scenes. By launching one of them, you will appear in the void - you just have to wait a bit for the map to load, and you will be able to fly over the location, explore the area, look at the interiors and the fighters frozen in a T-pose. If you wish, you can descend from heaven to earth and run around the territory with a machine gun in your hands - for this you need to go to the menu through the "Esc" key, press "H" and again on "Esc". 

In the form of a spirit or in a physical form, you can explore the territory of the Research Institute of ChAZ, a military checkpoint, a bomb shelter, a shooting range and other attractions.

While most locations require extensive polishing, some, like the checkpoint, look almost completely finished. Of course, the assets sometimes look poor, but even in the current state, the 2011 build looks good.
