Fresh Dying Light 2 Details Revealed: Map Size, Weapons and New Enemy Type

The lead game designer of the project, Tymon Smektala, answered the most frequently asked questions about Dying Light 2 in a separate video.

• The size of the map is over 6 square kilometers. For comparison, the map in the original Dying Light with all locations is half the size;
• A new type of infected will appear - with luminous spikes on their backs. It is not certain that the players will see them: this enemy appears only after a certain plot choice;
• The following rule applies in the game: during the day, the main threat is ordinary people, and at night - zombies. Infected hide in buildings from sunlight, but come to the surface after dark. However, they can go out into the street during the day - for example, if the hero makes a lot of noise;
  
• There will be almost no firearms: civilization has been destroyed, and there is simply nowhere to produce professional weapons. The player will be able to craft only a shotgun, which becomes unusable very quickly;
• The shotgun is placed in the left hand and can be used in conjunction with melee weapons in the other hand;
  
• The grappling hook has not disappeared from the game. The developers have made flights more realistic and physically believable. According to Smektala, if in the first part the player felt like Spider-Man, then in the sequel he will feel like Tarzan;
• In addition to movement, the grappling hook can also be used in combat;
• The hero will not be able to use transport, except for one mission;
  
• Decisions in Dying Light 2 occur on three levels. The most important level affects the main story and the final ending. The second level is most often found in side quests and can affect the world around you: for example, the player can save an opera singer, and then she will sing in one of the hubs. The third level depends on which faction the player supports. The hero can help the peacekeepers, and then they will set up special traps on the territory.
• The city is divided into two main regions: the center with skyscrapers and the old city. Within these regions, there are seven zones that factions can capture. For example, after the arrival of the survivors, bakeries and fields will appear in the zone, but the peacekeepers would build barricades and other military installations here.

A release date for Dying Light 2 has yet to be announced.
