Update 1.04 New World Notes: Server Move, Military Exploit, Faction Tokens
Amazon Games' MMO, New World, has been a hit since its release in September 2021. It is estimated that over 1,5 million players traverse Aeternum every day, and are calling on the developers to fix some of the game's early problems.
The October 27th patch notes address some of the community's concerns. But will they be enough to keep the players satisfied?
Here's everything you need to know about the 1.04 New World update, including the full patch notes.
New World update 1.04 finally addresses military exploits
Update 1.04 is quite lengthy as the developers aimed to focus on "fixing the major issues our players have been experiencing in recent weeks, especially those affecting wars", with the most notable fixes including "fixing an exploit with magical AoE effect. an issue preventing players from properly increasing the number of faction tokens and starting work on fixing issues that cause invulnerability.”
For high-level players in particular, the aforementioned issues were a major barrier to viewing the final New World content. The invulnerability issues were especially severe for those who wanted to play PvP.
But it looks like these issues have been recognized by the developers and addressed in the notes. However, it will be interesting to see if the issues are fully resolved or if players are left with problems.
Patch Notes 1.04 for the New World Update
The notes are divided into four main sections: Outpost Rush and Server Migration, General Changes, General Bug Fixes, and Suggested Changes.
Below are the full notes to the official communication . They are currently available in the game from October 27th.
Outpost Rush and Server Migration Deployment Plan
After the downtime required to deploy the 1.0.4 update, we will re-enable Outpost Rush and data transfer to the server at the following times.
Server Transfers
US West will be enabled at 2:00 AM PDT (9:00 AM UTC) after the completion of Downtime 1.0.4. After we monitor server transfers in the US West to ensure there are no new issues, we will re-enable them for the rest of the regions at 14:00 PM PT (21:00 PM UTC). A server restart is not required.
Outpost Rush
South America: 2:00 AM PDT (9:00 AM UTC) after 1.0.4 downtime completes.
Once we monitor Outpost Rush in South America to ensure there are no new issues, we will roll it out for the following regions at the times listed below.
- US West: 10:00 AM PT (17:00 PM UTC)
- US East: 12:00 PM PST (19:00 PM UTC)
- AP Southeast: 14:00 PM PT (21:00 PM UTC)
- Central Europe: 19:00 PT (2:00 UTC, October 29)
Our goal is to stick to the schedule above, but it may need to be modified depending on any issues (or lack thereof). We will keep you updated on our forums and in-game messages in case of downtime. Thanks to our players in the US West and South America for helping us get these features ready for a global rollout, and thanks to everyone for their understanding and patience.
General changes
- Removed starting beach Everfall to guide new players through the other 3 locations to increase the likelihood that new players and friends can start together.
- The discount on the first home reduces the purchase price, but does not reduce taxes. However, the UI indicated to the players that their taxes would be reduced, and it wasn't until they bought the house and had to pay taxes that they found they had to pay the full price. We will refund any player who bought a house before the release of the UI fix in the amount of 2000 coins.
- Slightly improved performance in Wars.
- Slightly improved the performance of the Staff of Life with changes to the Mending Touch and Blissful Touch passive abilities.
- In Update 1.0.3, we fixed an issue that caused companies to lose revenue due to holding multiple territories or due to failed war declarations. With this update, we are refunding lost coin income.
- The Company's Treasury will be reimbursed for all loss of coin revenue resulting from the issue.
- Returned income will not exceed the treasury limit.
- If the company has been completely abandoned, they will not return the lost coin.
- We have increased the maximum number of faction tokens by 50% for each faction level. We've made this change so players can earn extra tokens even if they've reached the reputation cap and want to save money while working towards moving up to the next faction rank. Here are the new values:
- Level 1: 5000 Tokens, increased to 7500
- Level 2: 10 tokens, increased to 000
- Level 3: 15 tokens, increased to 000
- Level 4: 25 tokens, increased to 000
- Level 5: 50 tokens, increased to 000
General bug fixes
- Fixed an issue that prevented the maximum number of faction tokens from increasing after players completed quests to rank up their faction.
- Fixed a rare issue that caused the world time to skip forward or backward, subsequently leading to many issues worldwide.
- Fixed an issue that resulted in players losing their homes in Cutlass Keys.
- Fixed several rare server crashes.
- Fixed an issue that caused the suspended/banned notification to display the wrong time.
- Fixed an issue where players could use their World Transfer Token while they still had active Trader Station contracts, resulting in additional issues when allowing transfers.

- Fixed an issue that resulted in unintended animation when interacting with a bubbling cauldron body item, as well as an issue that prevented the bucket object from appearing in the player's hand during interaction.

- Fixed an issue that resulted in the War Lottery Timer not stopping correctly during the War Lockdown period.
- Fixed draw distance of Jack-o-Lantern pumpkin lights.
- Fixed an issue resulting in the GM chat tag displaying on non-GM players.
- Fixed an issue that caused armor textures to flicker.
- Fixed an issue in Starstone Barrows Expedition where Arcane Defense was not protecting players from certain lasers.
- Fixed a bug due to which some enemies in the Amrin excavation were invulnerable.
- Fixed a bug due to which the Ice Pylon could remain on an infinite cooldown.
- Fixed an issue where players could get rings with two perks that share the same exclusive perk tag and were not supposed to be on the same ring.
- Fixed a bug due to which the visual display of the projectile was missing when attacking Ice Gauntlet and Ice Pylon.
- Fixed an issue that resulted in players being unable to perform various in-game actions after fast travel.
Speculative fixes
The fixes listed below are pre-release fixes and resolutions. Our goal is to release these changes and see if the issues persist so we can continue to work on them and fix them in a future update if necessary.
- Fixed a war exploit where players could use Area of Effect (AoE) magic effects to capture Rally Points without taking damage. This should be improved with War and Life Staff performance updates, but we will continue to monitor to see if the issues persist.
- We have addressed several known causes of player invulnerability. This issue is a top priority for our team and we continue to look for fixes for additional causes of this issue.
- We've supposedly fixed an issue that could cause players to get stuck after exiting Outpost Rush. This was a rare issue and our team was unable to reproduce it. We will continue to monitor during the rollout.
