Proze is a Stunningly Beautiful Cold War VR Adventure
Sometimes they announce VR games that make you think, “Where the hell did this come from?”. Proze is one of those games.
Proze is a virtual reality adventure game developed by the Ukrainian company SignSine that moves between the present day and the Cold War. In it, you explore a military research facility where mysterious experiments were carried out many years ago. Designed with virtual reality in mind, you'll solve puzzles and survive in a harsh wilderness as you try to uncover what happened at the base over 40 years ago.
While the first episode of what appears to be a release series is due out later this year, the free opening chapter of Proze: Prologue will be released for free on August 30th. In it, you will play as a Soviet engineer named Anatoly, who is directly involved in a research project. The trailer above suggests he'll be in trouble soon.
We especially like that Proze seems to take full advantage of VR motion controllers. From realistic interactions with objects like radios to rowing boats and more, it's like a game trying to make full use of equipment. Let's hope it holds up.
Steam says the first full chapter of the game will release in October with Oculus Rift and HTC Vive support. There is no word yet on a PSVR version.
