Rainbow Six Siege: Operation Shadow Legacy - Everything You Need to Know

New season

next season Rainbow Six Siege , Operation Shadow Legacy, will bring with it one of the biggest crossovers the game has seen in its lifetime, with the addition of Sam Fisher from Splinter Cell as a new operator.

New season

Not only is Sam "Zero" Fisher joining Team Rainbow, there's also a whole host of quality-of-life improvements to be made. Here's everything we know about Rainbow Six Siege's Year 5, Season 3: Operation Shadow Legacy.

New Operators of Operation Shadow Legacy. Who is Zero?

Right now, we only know about one of the two for sure, and that, of course, is Sam Fisher from the famous Splinter Cell . Appearing under the callsign "Zero", Fischer is a medium speed, medium armor attacker armed with a SC3000k, which is more or less the weapon he has been using since the first game. Splinter Cell . He can also use an MP7 rifle and a 5,7 USG pistol with an integrated silencer as sidearms.

The main Zero device equipped to collect information is the Argus system. When it fires at breakable or hardened surfaces, it provides a camera that can provide vision from both sides, making it one of the most flexible and adaptable cameras in the game right now. As well as being able to peer into enemy defenses, each Argus projectile can fire a single laser that can either damage the enemy team or, more usefully, destroy enemy gadgets. The trailer shows the Argus easily destroying Kaid's Rtila Electroclaw, disabling the reinforced surface.

Rainbow-Six-Siege

However, Argus Launcher has some serious drawbacks. Ironically for a character as secretive as Sam/Zero, this is quite a noisy gadget, releasing the famous night vision noise Splinter Cell when placing it. They are vulnerable to enemy attack and can be hacked by any equipment that normally deals with cameras or enemy gadgets, such as Mute signal disruptors, and any surface electrified by Kaid will destroy Argus's cell as well.

Interestingly, this new season showed nothing to do with the new Defense Operative. We have reached out to Ubisoft for comment as this will be the first season in the game's history to feature only one new operator. It will also upset the balance between attack and defense of the playing squad for the first time.

We can expect Zero to be available to Year 5 Season Pass holders on the normal seven days before it becomes available for purchase for all players. Everything else in Operation Shadow Legacy, like the Ping 2.0 overhaul and the chalet rework, will be available to everyone from day one.

What is Ping 2.0 Operation Shadow Legacy?

ping

Ping 2.0 is one of the biggest changes to the game Rainbow Six Siege- Operation Shadow Legacy. Following in the footsteps of games like Apex Legends, Ping 2.0 greatly improves the ping system to give your team contextual information without having to go to voice or text chat.

What's more, each player on the team will be assigned their own ping number, which will allow you to identify not only what is pinging, but also who is pinging it. Whether pinged in person, with a drone, or with a camera (including the Zero Argus camera), it will provide more information than the current system.

As compared with Apex Legends or Hyper scape it's still a pretty simple system ping , which is more focused on pointing to what's already there rather than issuing or responding to commands. But in a game so focused on communication, it's a welcome change for those of us who hate conversation.

New optics? Where is ACOG located in Operation Shadow Legacy?

optics

Most popular gun scope Rainbow Six Siege , ACOG, will be reimagined in Operation Shadow Legacy. Along with a number of new optics with their own benefits and new levels of magnification, the ACOG is being redesigned into the Scope 2.5x.

It's not just a few new sights and a reworked classic, it's a complete overhaul of the optics system. Red dots and holographic sights are being reworked, and Ubisoft is adjusting the sights on which weapons are available to each Operator. Expect your favorite gear to change with the release of Operation Shadow Legacy.

Best of all, crosshairs are now customizable, just like in games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. You can change the color and transparency, as well as the new colorblind options for additional accessibility options.

What is the reinforcement pool in Operation Shadow Legacy?

Before Shadow Legacy Rainbow Six Siege gave each defender their own number of boost kits to use on walls, doors, and trapdoors. However, many people (myself included, because I'm an idiot) tend to forget to use them, putting the team at a disadvantage.

So, with Shadow Legacy, Boost Kits are now a shared pool with 10 kits available for any team member to use. This means that roaming characters can live roaming, and players who prefer to crouch can do so more freely and without having to decide which surfaces they fortify between.

Rainbow Six

To compensate for the much more efficient reinforcement process, the attackers gain access to a new minor gadget with a hard hack. So far, only a handful of intruders like Hibana, Maverick or Operation Steel Wave's Ace have been able to break through the reinforced surfaces. With this new gadget, almost any intruder can become a serious cracker, although it is noisy, takes quite a long time and is easy to deal with in the same way as most other gadgets.

How will Thatcher's EMP grenade change in Operation Shadow Legacy?

Original Operative Thatcher is getting a significant nerf in Operation Shadow Legacy as his EMP grenade no longer destroys enemy gadgets. Instead, he will simply turn them off (or, in the case of the Lesion mines, show it) for a limited period.

This means a lot of team work will be required, such as installing a new reliable tool on a wall electrified by Cade. Thatcher would need to eject the EMP, and during that downtime, the hacking tool would need to be deployed and detonated. Any wrong time and the gadget will turn back on, destroying the jailbroken gadget.

This is going to be a pretty controversial nerf for sure, but Thatcher's ability to destroy gadgets so easily was something that definitely needed toning down.

What is the Operation Shadow Legacy match replay feature?

This is the feature that was requested for Rainbow Six Siege even before the first day: the opportunity to review your previous matches from different points of view. With the Operation Shadow Legacy test server, it's finally coming to fruition, although it will still be an experimental feature that Ubisoft describes as being in alpha testing.

Up to twelve of your previous matches can be reviewed both from your own and from the point of view of any other player. There's also a nifty top-down camera mode that lets you get a bird's-eye view of the match to better analyze player placement.

While Ubisoft points out obvious ways to use snippet recording and learning from your own mistakes, it will also make it much easier to spot and report hackers.

Which map will be reworked in Operation Shadow Legacy? What is a card ban?

New season

With every season comes a complete overhaul of one of the old Siege maps, and this time it's Chalet's turn for a facelift.

Emphasizing player agility, the Chalet's rework will allow you to rappel up and onto the roof, providing more unpredictable entry points. To reflect this more vertical approach, the balcony off the master bedroom has been turned into an interior area with a new staircase that connects it to the trophy room. The basement also has more room for rotation, as a new corridor will be added to connect both explosion sites. There is also a new window above the garage door, greatly reducing the attacking team's options.

As the name suggests, card bans are a new feature available in both ranked and unranked game modes that allow players to vote on which cards should be banned in the next match. I'm not sure how I feel about this, because it's like another thing to go through before playing (e.g. an infinite op-selection ban system) and it can cause the same handful of cards to be play forever.

Operation Shadow Legacy launch date Rainbow Six Siege

final date Operation Shadow Legacy not yet announced, although we can be sure that it will be in the next few weeks.

It is assumed that Operation Shadow Legacy will start somewhere in early to mid-September. Operation Void Edge launched on March 10, and Operation Steel Wave on June 16. Since each season lasts for about three months, this means that Operation Shadow Legacy will launch in the middle of next month.

As with every season, PC players will have access to a testing period through the Test Server client. To access it, go to the Uplay client and download " Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege - Test Server.
