Yoru's Valorant Rework Revealed: Ability Changes, Release Date
Yoru's rework will be featured in Valorant Episode 4. As Riot reveals key details about the Japanese duelist's new abilities ahead of the latest launch.
Initial remodeling plan Yoru was delayed back in August 2021 when the developers cited that the need for new art would take longer to complete any potential character updates.
We now have a changelog and an estimated release of all Yoru changes coming soon in 2022.
Here's what you need to know about the Yoru rework in Valorant.
Yoru has been constantly improved since its release, but there is still a bigger overhaul going on to increase its power.
It's fair to say that when Yoru launched, there was a TON of hype around this boy, but as you all experimented with him, many of you came to the conclusion that his results did not match the rest of the participants in the list, the developers admitted.
To fix Yoru's issues, Riot is tweaking abilities in their rework rather than removing them entirely. The main focus is on his two normal abilities - his teleportation and false steps.
Enemies will have a harder time detecting gates with reduced sound and move faster around the map. They also added the ability to launch a "fake teleporter" to support mind games.
As for his Fakeout ability, the steps will be replaced with an exact copy of Yoru that runs forward in a straight line. Once fired, it will explode and weaken nearby enemies.
Riot is also considering making changes to his Dimensional Drift ultimate to help Yoru open sites wide. However, his Blindside flare is expected to remain intact.
Rework is expected to be launched in the Valorant 4.04 patch
List of Yoru changes in Valorant:
Bait
- Footsteps have been replaced with a new visual effect: an exact copy of Yoru that runs forward and, after being fired, spins and explodes, weakening enemies.
Uninvited guest
- Reduced the range in which enemies can see and hear the tether on the map while it is moving.
- Increased leash movement speed by 20%.
- Yoru can now activate the tether from a distance to trigger a fake teleporter, playing the same audio and visual effects as if he were teleporting.
