Matt Reeves shares plot information about Batman and how the film deals with Bruce Wayne's origins as a caped crusader. Robert Pattinson will debut as the next iteration of the iconic DC character in an upcoming standalone film. Although the actor got the role after the departure of Ben Affleck, this new iteration will exist outside of established DCEU canon .

Pattinson is joined by an all-star cast including Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Colin Farrell as Penguin and Andy Serkis as Alfred. Filming Batman were in full swing earlier this year when they were forced to close due to problems with the suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic. But prior to that, Reeves had already revealed official content from the film, including a first look at the titular character, which captivated fans even more. In terms of storytelling, Batman will see Wayne in his sophomore year as a caped crusader.

During a special DC FanDome panel, Reeves went into some detail about what fans can expect from the film, including relevant plot details. According to the director, "Batman" tells how Wayne learns how to become a "Cape Crusader" so that he can fundamentally change Gotham City. Part of a detailed explanation of the plot Batman  Reeves can be read below:

You know the whole idea is an experiment in the film. The idea that we're in our sophomore year is a Gotham experiment, it's a criminal logic experiment trying to figure out what it can do to finally change this place. And in our history, how is it in this mode. That's where you meet him and see that he's scheduling what he's doing and doesn't seem to have any effect he'd like to have. And then the murders start to happen, and then the murders start to describe sort of Gotham's history in a way that only reinforces what he knows about Gotham, but it opens up a whole new world of corruption that goes much further. But when that story starts to come out, not being an origin story for him, it turns out to be something that touches on his origin. So, you start to describe this epic story of corruption in Gotham, and you start to understand, "well, where did my family sit in this," and in that sense ... it's a way of taking the story, the story from the point of view of the mystery. It certainly has action and all, but at the end of the day it's incredibly personal to him, even though it's in the story where he's trying to understand and unravel this mystery.

It's pretty amazing that Reeves was willing to tell so much about the story. Batman . In the era of spoiler-free marketing, most if not all high-profile films carefully hide plot details and save them for the film itself. The director presented important plot details to the public, but he formulated them in such a way that the biggest secrets of the story are still preserved. Instead, it only gives fans a better idea of the film's plot so that they have a good understanding of how this version of Caped Crusader differs from its predecessors. It's also a good way to seduce moviegoers as they can decide if they're interested in the story or not.

Reeves' decision to shake up Batman's traditional origins means his film can still deal with the brutal murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne, but doesn't make it the original narrative focus. According to the director, instead of personal revenge, Wayne will focus on making Gotham a better place. Seeing him come up with the best way to do this will be a character struggle that was barely handled in any of the previous iterations of the hero that actually did Batman unique and refreshing for fans .
