MultiVersus developers will nerf four characters at the alpha test stage
Alpha MultiVersus is in full swing, and players are up to their necks in the Warner Bro. Game Director Tony Hewyn has already announced the impact this testing phase will have on some beta characters later this year.
Since the trial period for games is an integral part of the never-ending balancing act of challenging Smash-style games, it's great to see that MultiVersus' closed alpha tech test is already having an impact.
Alpha aired on May 19, with early reviews calling it "too addictive". Following up on the feedback, Game Director Tony Hewyn announced on Twitter that the developers are already considering toning down some of the characters.
After initially thanking the player base for their input throughout this process, Tony mentioned everyone involved in helping quality control department.
This led to the avalanche of player-found bugs being reported directly to Hewin. It's all part of the alpha process in action and a refreshing insight into the process of creating a game.
Most of the bug reports detailed certain character interactions. The list was in keeping with the chaotic nature of the character, with many noting a glitch where the character model becomes invisible.
In response to the comment that "some characters need nerfs", Tony showed himself to be very responsive to the fan base and announced that several character reworks are currently underway.
The four characters mentioned are "Finn, Jake, Harley (Quinn) and Raindog". Showing that adventure time is simply impossible to control. Regardless of the environment.
With the game's only original character to date, Reindog, announced by the OP, it's clear the team will want their creation to rank high in the game's meta.
Alpha version is currently ongoing until 27 May, to give the development team enough time to make any changes seen in the process. Let's hope this leads to a clean beta run in July 2022.
