Overwatch 2 is finally launching on October 4th with three new heroes, but the developers are already teasing characters that are yet to come as soon as the game launches.

In the interview Eurogamer Overwatch Game Director Aaron Keller explained what abilities some of the new heroes might have and what types of players might like them.
Developers tease Overwatch 2's 'really exciting' hero in the works
When asked about what types of heroes they are working on, Keller explained how the team loves to add new types of gameplay, noting how they plan to represent heroes in different ways.
“With some of the new heroes we are developing and one in particular that I can think of, we will be adding a whole new mechanic to the game and this is something players have been asking for for a long time so a really exciting release is coming soon. ", - he said.
Although Keller didn't specify if it would be a tank or a prop, it seems likely that he's talking about the season 2 hero, who is confirmed to be a tank. As for what the ability might be, we'll just have to wait and find out.
Another support hero in the style of "Mercy"
Keller also went on to tease upcoming support that appeals to a particular gameplay style and indicated that Mercy players could get a new hero to add to their repertoire.
“If you think of a healer like Mercy, [the style] appeals to certain types of players. And I think there's room on the hero roster to make another healer in the same vein," he said.
These comments also align with previous remarks made by lead hero designer Jeff Goodman, who said the team is interested in adding another hero like Mercy that is less "target driven".
Only time will tell who these heroes ultimately are and how they play, but it looks like Overwatch players will have something to look forward to in the coming months as more heroes are released.
