Fortnite Editing: All Possible Options

fortnite-img

The most important difference Fortnite and the biggest advantage (purely my personal opinion!) over other games of the Royal Battle genre is the ability to build defensive structures from the resources available on the map. Agree, you can just shoot a lot where, and frankly, in the same royal battle Battlefield Firestorm the drawing of the graphic component is much more advanced and realistic.

The popularity of Fortnite is now at its peak and the game is attracting more and more new players. If you are an experienced veteran, then this post will hardly surprise you. It is more focused on people who have not yet figured out all the intricacies of survival on the Fortnite island.

Let's start in order:

Resources

We have three resource options in the game. This wood, stone и metal. All of them differ in strength and extraction speed, respectively, wood is assembled faster but has a small margin of safety, and metal is more difficult to obtain (slower), but is the most durable of the above trinity. The presence of these resources in our reserves gives us the opportunity to build defensive / attacking structures (buildings). More about Fortnite resources and items can be find out here.

The best way to get wood is to cut thick and tall trees.

Stone is good at building fortifications, but is not as good at protecting against explosions as metal, so should be your fallback option. Buildings made of bricks cannot withstand a single shot from a rocket launcher, which will cause certain problems in the later stages of the game. You will get this material by destroying brick walls, chimneys, and just ordinary boulders lying in the open.

Metal buildings can withstand one flare gun shot, making it the best building material in the game for building fortifications. You can mine metal from vehicles (trucks and trailers provide a lot of metal) that you find in towns and villages. The best place to look for metal is the Spontaneous Dump.

Fortnite building elements

The developers provided us with the most necessary elements for construction. This roof, wall, floor and stairs.

Properly using these elements, you can quickly get to places that are inaccessible in any other way.

You can build stairs to get to the top of a hill that can't be accessed by other means. Attacking the enemy from above, you will get a significant advantage.

Editing building elements

This is what I prepared you for in the first part of the guide. Let's consider in detail how to edit correctly and which element can be obtained in a certain way by changing the source.

Walls and ramps are made up of 6 squares (3x3 grid) while floors and roof/pyramids are made up of 4 squares (2x2 grid) which can be edited with the assigned edit key (check bindings, G is the default on PC). Once you click on some of these squares in edit mode and confirm the action, you can create a window in the wall, a door, or cut a ramp, etc., based on what you removed. This becomes very useful when you are trapped inside your own walls and urgently need to get out, or you need to get out from under a ramp you may have accidentally built above you.

The most basic and key changes that you need is how to make a door in the wall, 1/3 of the wall and half of the ramp. The door is a quick way to just go through the located wall. 1/3 of the wall can help when making a door is not possible because the bottom squares are underground or not accessible. A half ramp is usually needed to get extra protection.

Check out this great reference guide below, which clearly demonstrates all the possible options for changing structures.

As you can see, there are quite a few of them, but not all of them are necessary and useful. Choose the editing options you need and try them out on special training grounds that can be found here.

It is also important to properly configure the control of the keyboard or your joystick. You can see the options for setting the binds that Fortnite pros use Had, Ninja and other battle royale legends.
