Resident Evil 4 VR: Release Date, Trailers, Gameplay Details & More

16 years after Capcom's original release of Resident Evil 4, Facebook has announced a new VR port for Oculus Quest 2. Here's everything we know so far.

In the midst of Resident Evil's 25th anniversary celebrations, Capcom made some big announcements. While the focus is on Resident evil village , an old classic returns in a brand new way.

Resident Evil 4, first released on the Gamecube in 2005, is moving into virtual reality. From the moment all the new details become available, here's what you need to know.

Resident Evil 4 VR release date

A new VR port of Resident Evil 4 has just been announced, and of course a release date has yet to be set.

However, it's more than likely that we'll see a new release at some point in 2021. Especially since it's a celebration of the 25th anniversary of Resident Evil.

Resident Evil 4 VR Platforms

As a result of a unique collaboration between Capcom, Oculus Studios and Armature Studio, a new VR port is being developed as an exclusive to Oculus Quest 2.

This means no other VR headset will have access to the title at launch. Despite launching Resident Evil 7's VR mode exclusively with PlayStation VR, this new port will not be available on Sony hardware.

Resident Evil 4 VR has a new first-person mode

As you'd expect from a VR port, the new release of Resident Evil 4 comes with a unique addition to the game: first-person mode.

For the first time in history, players will be able to take a fresh look at the classic horror game. According to Mike Verdu, VP of Content at Facebook Reality Labs, allowing players to "go inside" should add new "richness and depth".

It seems that in this new mode you can play the whole game from start to finish. Expect plenty of heartbreaking moments as the horrors of Resident Evil 4 get closer than ever before.

Oculus Gaming Showcase Resident Evil 4 VR Gameplay

The relevant section starts at 21:30 below.

In addition to the pre-announcement, the Oculus Gaming Showcase featured five minutes of brand new gameplay. During the demo, many of the new features and major changes were fully displayed.

One of the biggest changes concerns in-game items. Everything from weapons to ammunition has been "recycled to become physical objects". Instead of just equipping them, you will be able to properly interact with items in XNUMXD space.

When it comes to moving in a VR port, you will have two options. With Oculus Quest 2, you can not only walk freely, but also teleport. In addition to these fundamental changes, enemies have been changed, textures have been improved, and sound has been improved to add XNUMXD immersion.

We will make sure to bring you all the most important information about Resident Evil 4 VR in the coming weeks.
