Riot Games Announces New League of Legends Ultimate Skins for 2020
Riot Games has announced new cosmetics for League of Legends as their 2020 lineup will now include the Ultimate skin along with designs for Singed, Aurelion Sol, Zaki, and the Legendary Lee Sin.
The last time there was a new Ultimate skin in the Store was in 2016, when Riot introduced Elementalist Lux, which itself included 10 different designs for the champion. However, personalization and events head Jonathan Bellissimo Belliss paved the way for a new entry into the prestigious line in four years.
The developers have notified League fans that production targets for 2020 are progressing well enough to make room for more designs for either forgotten champions or high pick frequency characters.
Lee Sin is featured in the latter, which will lead to the creation of the legendary "Dragonmancer" skin, in addition to the Ultimate skin that Riot hopes to release before the end of the year.
“Ultimate skins always require additional development time to create and ship.” said Bellissimo about premium cosmetics . “And most importantly, all of this effort should result in an experience that you feel is best in class for a champion.
“With all that said, we are pleased to announce that we are currently working on a perfect skin that we hope to release later this year.”
Riot hasn't said which champion will get the next Ultimate skin. Of their 150 characters, only five have been blessed by them, including Firepulse Ezreal, Spirit Guard Udyr, DJ Sona, Gun Goddess Misfortune, and Elementalist Lux.
Legendary Dragonslayer Lee Sin Skin
Riot has unveiled the intro for the next Legendary skin. Although the name has not been officially revealed, Riot described the story behind this character's skin: "Back from the top as a Legendary Dragonslayer, Lee Sin now distributes a terrible punishment to the villains all over the world.
The Blind Monk will receive his second Legendary skin, accompanied by God Fist Lee Sin, which was released in 2017.
Instead of the red and gold of his other skin, Dragon Slayer Lee Sin will wear white and black along with the blue Storm Dragon's lightning.
New skins for derelict champions Singed, Zack and more
Bellissimoh also revealed that the work Riot has done so far has given them the opportunity to design for "eight more champions who haven't been skinned in a while."
This means that Anivia, Aurelion Sol, Azir, Illaoi, Ivern, Singed, Yorick, and Zack are now in line to get the skins along with the rest of the 2020 tablet.
The company made a splash screen for Zack, Aurelion Sol, and Singed. Sol looks like the Storm Dragon mentioned in the upcoming Dragonmancer skin line, while Zack and Singed appear to be new characters in the Battlecast universe.
These designs will further Riot's ambition of debuting nearly "140 skin releases by the end of 2020" culminating in the highly anticipated launch of new Ultimate cosmetics.
