How to build all types of structures Fortnite and combine them to create the best defense as you aim for a Victory Royale.
Fortnite's building sets it apart from other battle royale arena shooters, as the ability to build walls, ramps, and other structures on the fly can completely change the dynamics of a fight. If you want to survive in Fortnite, then knowing how to build specific structures and having a few handy tricks in your pocket for getting out of tough situations can be crucial and help you achieve a victory royale. We've put together this complete Fortnite building guide so you can build walls, floors, stairs, and roofs of any type, and show you what they look like in combat.
Before we get started, here are some quick tips to help you build. First, change your controller configuration to "Builder Pro" as this helps speed up the building process by eliminating the need to scroll through different options before placing your structures - this is the most efficient way to build on the fly. The second quick tip is again about game settings, so go ahead and make sure you have "Reset building selection" enabled. Each time you enter and exit the build menu, you'll reset the wall build option, which means if you haven't quite mastered Builder Pro's controls yet, you'll always have a wall to build when you encounter an enemy.
Your four main structures are walls, floors, stairs, and roofs, and they can all be modified in a number of ways depending on which sections you add or remove after zooming into the structure and entering edit mode. Here is a complete guide to all the different forms you can create and what you need to enter to get them:

Fortnite building tactics for victory royale
Fortnite fans are always looking for ways to get an edge on their opponents in the popular battle royale game, and building can be one of the most powerful tools in a player's arsenal.
One of the most important building methods that players can use is learning to build 90. A system that allows players to quickly build an elevated base in seconds by turning 90 degrees and building a ramp with two walls to provide cover.
This technique can be difficult for new players or for people who aren't yet confident builders to pick up, and even longtime Fortnite fans can find it hard to implement 90 quickly and accurately.
To help those struggling with building, YouTuber Neil Yoh has put together a walkthrough to help players nail the technique, and suggests heading to the playground, disabling sprinting, and slowly practicing the move.
The key to doing 90 fast is to learn the moves you need to do and practice them over and over again until they become part of your muscle memory.
To do this, Neil Yo suggests slowly building his first section by placing two walls, a floor, and then a ramp, and then go up the left side of the ramp and stop at the top, and do the same thing again.
Keep doing this method, trying to do it faster each time, until you can do it with ease. You can then start trying to do this by going up the left side of your ramps and then re-enable sprinting once you've done that, finally moving on to jumping, which is the fastest way to build a 90.
About the properties of building materials
Finally, a note about materials. Wooden structures build the fastest and regenerate health quickly as soon as they are placed on the ground, so use them as defensive structures on the fly.
- It takes 5 seconds to build a wooden wall and 200 health
- Stone wall takes 12 seconds and has 300 health
- Metal Wall takes 20 seconds and has 400 health
However, since they take time to fully assemble, it is possible to quickly destroy a brick or metal wall during its construction by shooting it like a wooden wall. But once you get past the 5 second mark, the other walls become stronger and more effective for defensive strategies. A wooden wall is without a doubt your best structure in terms of health per second, so we advise using them for small fights and using stone/metal to build forts that you are going to be in for a long period of time. For example, if you are first in the next small circle towards the end of the match and no one is bothering you, try building a small brick fort, as each wall will have an extra 100 health, which will certainly help when the enemy engages you . Stone and Metal should be used late in the game when you're in last position, but only when it's safe to spend extra build time.
Simply put, you want high ground as it increases your chances of headshots. Due to the fact that Fortnite works in third person, this means that you can see enemies much better than they can see you, which gives you more control over the situation. Oh, and don't forget we talked about enabling "Builder Pro" as it's God's grace and we wish we knew about it when we first started playing - say goodbye to switching your builds!
So here it is, a Fortnite building guide that should help you better understand each combination of structures and how to use the building to your advantage in battle royale.
