Amazon's new MMO, promisingly dubbed "New World", is finally available to players. The project was waited for so long that after the launch, Steam online statistics instantly skyrocketed, namely more than 600K players at a time.
Will the Russian language appear in New World
The delayed development and space budget made players feel confident that Amazon was preparing something great that could dethrone World of Warcraft and breathe new life into MMOs. The miracle did not happen, moreover, the game has a very modest set of localizations. Our gamers will be doubly offended to know that New World is fully translated even into Polish, but Russian, just as it was not on the closed beta, is not on the release either.
Back in March 2020, a thread was created on Steam asking to add domestic localization. At the moment, the discussion has 446 pages of comments. The developers themselves also took part, assuring the community that they are listening to the voiced problems and are actively working to change the situation.
Already in April 2021, the game's official Twitter account posted the following:
Although the Russian language is not planned for closed beta testing and official release, we will definitely inform the game team that it is requested!
However, the Russian language was never added to the release, from which we can draw an obvious conclusion - this problem is not paramount for developers. If the popularity of the game does not fade away, there will definitely be Russian localization, but when is unknown.
How to play New World in Russian
If you really want to immerse yourself in the alternative 17th century, and your knowledge of English is close to zero, there is a way out. Obviously, fan translations will be coming soon. Probably, they will not be of high quality, but they will definitely be able to make the passage easier.
For the most impatient, there is another option - an OCR translator. Thanks to this program, the text in dialogs and prompts will be able to be recognized and translated directly from the screen. For everything to work, you need download ScreenTranslator from GitHub.
The translation program is quite simple. After unpacking the files in the settings, select UpdateThen Check now. In the submenu correction right-click select English language install, then in the submenu translation select the one you like from the available translators (you can google), also install. It remains to choose recognition English language. This completes the initial setup.
In the settings in Recognition must be English, and Translate - Russian with a tick on the selected translator.
В Main select the hotkeys that are convenient for you, when pressed, the image will be captured and that's it. This setting can be closed.
Of course, the quality of the translation will be far from perfect, but this will help you understand the general meaning and start playing the game, waiting for at least fan-made localization.
