Salt and Sacrifice: How to Get the Grappling Hook
The Grappling Hook is the first Metroidvania-style upgrade you'll find in Salt and Sanctuary. Here's where to get it.
Moving around Salt and Sacrifice requires several upgrades found around the world. The first item you will need is Grab Hook, and once you get it, the game will start opening.
Luckily, you don't have to travel far to find and start using this first tool. We'll tell you exactly where to go to find it.
How to find the grappling hook in Salt and Sacrifice
Starting from the starting spawning point in the village of Ashbourne, head left until you reach a branch on the way. Deal with the enemies and run through the lower doorway.
Going down will take you to the Ruth Sale Cave. This area is filled with skeletons, archers and bats. At its bottom is a heavily armed and armored knight who will kill you faster than you can blink the first time you meet him.
Instead of going further left, head to the lower right corner of the room. If you meet a green knight, you've gone too far down, so keep straight until you reach another doorway.
Walk through to get to Greymoss Swamp. There are at least two fights with mages.
Once you defeat the Uryks, there is only one path you can take: the lower right entrance to the cave.
Inside this green cave, follow the one-way path down. At the bottom of the cave you will find a long dead inquisitor. Loot his corpse for a Grappling Hook.
With a grappling hook in hand, you can hook onto a variety of shiny grapple points across the map with the right trigger. You must jump and be within reach of the grapple point for it to activate., but the activation distance is pretty decent.
If you're not moving in the right direction, let the full grapple animation complete, turn your character in the direction of the climb, and use the Hook again. You will be hooked on a new direction. You can move like spiderman by repeatedly pressing the button.
