Sony Removes Cyberpunk 2077 From PlayStation Store, Refund Offered

news

Sony has taken the drastic step of removing Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation Store following the release of the buggy game on the latest generation of consoles, and will honor any refund decisions for players who have already purchased the game.

Finally, Cyberpunk 2077 has been disabled. While the PC version and those playing on the next-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles went through with almost no issues, PS4 and Xbox One owners were in the worst position .

Because the game didn't live up to Sony's expectations for the PlayStation Store, they pulled the game off the market and are now taking the unprecedented step of refunding players.

“SIE [Sony Interactive Entertainment] is committed to delivering a high level of customer satisfaction, which is why we will begin offering full refunds to all players who purchase Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation Store. SIE will also remove Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation Store until further notice." in a statement dated December 17 .

“Once we confirm that you have purchased Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation Store, we will begin processing your refund. Please note that the return process may vary depending on your payment method and financial institution."

This came after CD PROJEKT RED told players it would help them apply for a refund. if they send an email to the developers .

“We … [apologize] to you for not showing the game on the latest generation of base consoles prior to its release and, as a result, not allowing you to make a more informed buying decision,” they said back on December 14th.

“If you are unhappy with the game on your console and don't want to wait for updates, you can get a refund for your copy. For copies purchased digitally, please use the PSN or Xbox refund system respectively."

Microsoft has yet to do the same for Xbox One players. PS4 players can apply for a refund here .
