Warzone 2 will reportedly be renamed in Season 4
Judging by recent leaks from Task Force Leakers 141, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 will be renamed with the Season 4 update. According to sources, the game will be renamed to Call of Duty: Warzone. This data has been sourced from various leaked Season 4 posters suggesting that the "2.0" characters will be completely removed from the game's title in the future.
Warzone 2.0 is the successor to the iconic Warzone battle royale. It launched in November 2022 and the game has gone through three seasonal updates since then. New content has been added each season, including game modes, weapons, operators, and ranked play.
However, the upcoming Season 4 update has reportedly seen some drastic changes to the game.
What is Warzone 2 renaming into Season 4?
With Season 4 just around the corner, various leaks have surfaced. However, this update will be different from previous ones. Among the list of leaked content, one of the changes that caught the attention of the players is the title of the game. All leaked illustrations from season 4 point to a potential title change.
Previously, Task Force Leakers 141 shared some intriguing thoughts about the upcoming update, including new card "Vondel" and various locations on it. However, in all of this leaked material, one consistent thing was the Warzone 2.0 logo, which said "Call of Duty: Warzone" without any "2.0" characters at the end.
After Twitter users drew attention to the changed logo, Task Force 141 Leakers stated:
“This is no longer called warzone 2.0 as of season 4. Just Warzone, so the logo has changed."
This isn't the first time Activision has moved forward with the renaming of its Call of Duty games. Right after the launch of WZ 2 on November 16, 2022, the original game was rebranded as Warzone Caldera and remains so.
That's all there is to know about the potential Warzone 2 name change for now. However, it is worth noting that these are just rumors based on leaks and are not official announcements. Hence, they should be treated with a pinch of salt.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and WZ 2 Season 3 Reloaded are now live. The update is available on Windows PC (via Battle.net and Steam), Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
